Liquid Glass has often been a topic of debate regarding its readability. With the rollout of iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, 2026, Apple may have finally delivered a solution. One of the key features of this new version of the iPhone’s operating system is a slider in the Settings menu that allows users to easily modify its appearance from “perfectly clear to fully tinted,” according to the Cupertino-based company.
iOS 27 Features a Slider to Adjust Liquid Glass Translucency Levels
Initially criticized at its debut in September 2025 with iOS 26 update, Apple’s design language had already been revised once. In iOS 26.1, the company introduced two options: a Transparent mode that enhanced glass-like effects and reflections, and a Tinted mode, which offered a more opaque and contrasting variant.
In this latest update, Apple has gone a step further. Firstly, several enhancements were made to Liquid Glass during the development cycle, ensuring the default interface offers “exceptional readability with more uniform refraction and enhanced contrast”. Moreover, the company now provides users with more flexibility in this setting. A slider now allows for a shift towards a Transparent level, which “reveals more content underneath”, or towards a Tinted level, which “increases opacity and enhances the contrast of content and controls”, the company explains.

After installing iOS 27, follow these steps to modify the Liquid Glass effect on your iPhone:
- Open Settings,
- Tap on the Appearance tab,
- Select Liquid Glass,
- Slide the slider left or right to set the transparency level.
Note: When you first start up after installing iOS 27, a setup window will appear immediately, prompting you to adjust this effect.
If you still find the interface not clear enough, you can also minimize transparency effects in various parts of the interface by going to Accessibility, clicking on Display and Text Size, and then selecting the Reduce Transparency option.
