John Ternus veut continuer à développer les services d'Apple

John Ternus: The Engineer Turned CEO of Apple

With a solid background in engineering and a 25-year tenure at Apple’s product design team, John Ternus has been leading as the Vice President of Hardware Engineering since 2013. As he prepares to take over from Tim Cook as Apple’s CEO on September 1st, Ternus will be in charge of overseeing all of Apple’s operations. This new role will introduce him to previously uncharted territories, particularly the company’s second-largest revenue stream: services, which last year generated over $100 billion.

Internal Meeting at Steve Jobs Theater

Following the CEO transition announcement, an internal meeting was held at the Steve Jobs Theater where John Ternus addressed Apple’s service team leaders, managed by Eddy Cue. During his speech, reported by Bloomberg, the future CEO expressed his admiration for the service segment and his personal engagement with many of Apple’s services. He conveyed his intentions to further expand this area of the business.

I am truly amazed by everything you have achieved with our services. I remember when our offerings were basic, and we were just considering expanding these services. Now, every morning, I start my day using our services in various ways: Apple Music, listening to podcasts in my car, using Apple Pay for transactions, syncing all my devices with iCloud, and the list goes on. I usually end my day watching Apple TV. It’s just incredible.

And I believe this is what makes our business beautiful: the integration of all these components. We have hardware, software, and services. Tim often says this, and I couldn’t agree more. I look forward to further developing this and continuing to explore services that fully leverage the opportunities provided by the interaction between hardware and software.

Apple Pay is a perfect example of this. I mean, we have completely transformed commerce and shopping habits, and it’s an ideal combination of everything we offer. I think there are still tremendous possibilities.
