50 ans d'Apple : Tim Cook veut marquer le coup

The Genesis and Evolution of Apple

Apple was established on April 1, 1976, by the trio of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. As spring approaches in the year 2026, Apple is preparing to commemorate its 50th anniversary. During a company-wide meeting with Apple employees in Cupertino this Thursday, CEO Tim Cook expressed his intentions to make this milestone memorable, according to Bloomberg: “Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot about Apple as we’ve been planning how to mark this occasion. Taking a moment to look back over the past 50 years is truly moving. Really. I assure you, there will be a celebration.”

A Decade Ago: Apple’s Internal Celebrations

Ten years earlier, Apple had held an internal event to celebrate its 40th anniversary, which was not publicized. There are few images from that event, but a memorable GIF remains, capturing Tim Cook dancing in front of Apple’s historic headquarters in Cupertino.

Anticipated Spring Announcements

With multiple hardware announcements expected this spring, Apple might consider hosting an Apple Event around April 1st, which happens to fall on a Wednesday this year. Could the company go beyond a mere retrospective, possibly with a commemorative product? The last such instance was the launch of the twentieth-anniversary Macintosh—the renowned Spartacus—in 1997. Although there are no confirmed projects of similar magnitude currently known, certain Apple accessories like bands and cases could be suitable for such an endeavor. It’s also worth recalling the Apple-designed book launched in 2016. The details are eagerly awaited in the coming two months.

Update February 9, 2026, at 8:25 AM:

Mark Gurman has published the full transcript on Bloomberg:

“I’ve been thinking a lot about Apple recently as we’ve been focusing on how to mark this event: our 50 years. It’s an incredible milestone. We’ve delved into our archives, our old photos. We’ve reviewed our products, our services, our teams, and I am struck by the profound impact Apple has had on the world, on everything Apple has contributed to humanity. Are we going to celebrate it? Absolutely! We’re not quite ready to reveal the details, so stay tuned. Yes, we are not the type to dwell on the past. The team working on this project has therefore had to prepare differently, as we are always looking forward. We had to do a real introspection to approach these 50 years with peace, but when you take the time to stop and think about the last 50 years, it’s really moving. Really. I promise you there will be a celebration.”
