Apple étend encore son American Manufacturing Program
Apple has recently issued a press release announcing the addition of new partners to its American Manufacturing Program (AMP), a funding initiative aimed at enhancing Apple’s supply chain in the United States. The new collaborators include Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics, with plans to invest up to $400 million in these partnerships by 2030.

“At Apple, we believe in the power of American innovation and manufacturing, and we are excited to partner with more companies to manufacture critical components and advanced materials for our products right here in the USA,” stated Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Apple has revealed that Bosch will join forces with Apple and TSMC to manufacture integrated circuits at TSMC’s facility in Camas, Washington. “These integrated circuits are crucial for features like collision detection, activity tracking, and altitude measurement in Apple products.”

Cirrus Logic is set to collaborate with Apple and GlobalFoundries on developing new semiconductor manufacturing technologies at the GlobalFoundries plant in Malta, New York. “GlobalFoundries’ brand-new silicon manufacturing process will be utilized in the U.S. for the first time, enabling the development of key technologies for Apple products.” Apple notes that Cirrus Logic is already creating advanced circuits for Apple’s Face ID facial recognition technology.

Meanwhile, TDK will be producing tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors in the United States for Apple. These sensors “support crucial iPhone features, such as camera stabilization.”

Lastly, Qnity Electronics in partnership with HD MicroSystems will supply unspecified advanced materials and technologies, which are “essential for semiconductor manufacturing and sophisticated electronics.” Apple mentions that this partnership “will enhance innovation in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence.”
