To encourage more users to switch to a paid plan, ChatGPT is expanding its offerings. According to the specialized website MacGeneration, which reported this Friday, December 19, 2025, OpenAI has quietly introduced the ChatGPT Go plan in France. This low-cost option is priced at 8 euros per month and includes several appealing features.
An Initially Asian-Tested More Affordable Option
Launched in August, the ChatGPT Go plan was originally designed to target a key market for OpenAI: India, which was then its second-largest market, as reported by TechCrunch.
Priced at less than five dollars, this budget plan was subsequently rolled out in Indonesia in September, followed by other Asian countries in October, including Vietnam, Malaysia, and Pakistan. Until now, there was no confirmation that it would be made available in European Union countries, although it was mentioned that “other countries and regions [could] access it later” on its introductory page.

What are the Differences Between ChatGPT Go and ChatGPT Plus?
Now available in France for 8 euros per month—or 4 euros per month if you already subscribe to an offer, which could entice some customers to switch—the ChatGPT Go plan is positioned as an “affordable” alternative to ChatGPT Plus, offering “extended access [to] the most popular features” of the conversational agent, as detailed by OpenAI in its pricing structure.
The essence of this plan particularly lies in higher limits for text queries with GPT-5.2, and image generation with GPT Image 1.5, its two newly deployed models. However, it also includes several additional options, according to a help page:
- Access to customized GPTs,
- Enhanced memory “for more personalized responses”,
- Access to the Projects feature,
- The ability to import more files,
- Extended access to “advanced data analysis” with Python.
Of course, for all these options, the usage caps are still lower than those of ChatGPT Plus, which costs three times more per month. Go subscribers will also not have access to the most advanced features of the conversational agent, such as Codex, Agent mode, or Deep Research. They will also be unable to generate video sequences with Sora.
