A comprehensive report by an investment bank has disclosed the lineup of Apple’s upcoming smartphones over the next two years. According to the report, 11 new devices, including Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone, are expected to be launched by the end of 2027. The report provides some technical specifications for each model, revealing both exciting and disappointing features.
In 2025, Apple introduced five new phones. These included the iPhone 16e, the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, along with the iPhone Air. Reviews for four of these models are available in our articles, with only the iPhone 17 Pro missing (due to its similarity with the iPhone 17 Pro Max). It’s not the first time Apple has launched five iPhones in a year, but it’s uncommon. The last occurrence was in 2022 with the iPhone SE 5G followed by the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max.

The trend of releasing five smartphones per year might become more frequent, and there could even be more models. Recent rumors suggest that the iPhone Air and iPhone 16e may be updated. Additionally, a foldable iPhone, which has been the subject of many leaks in recent years, might also join the lineup. According to a detailed report from JP Morgan, shared on Twitter by journalist Max Weinbach, this could happen as soon as next year.

Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Confirmed for 2026
The report indicates that Apple will launch 11 new smartphones between 2026 and 2027. Five models are slated for next year and six for the following year. The first among these will be the iPhone 17e, the successor to the iPhone 16e. Unlike the “SE” models, Apple appears intent on continuing this more affordable series. It is expected to debut in early 2026, likely in February, similar to its predecessor. It will be followed in late 2026 by four models: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Air (which will harmonize its name with the other models), and Apple’s first foldable smartphone. FINALLY!
The standard iPhone 18 model is notably missing; it hasn’t been abandoned but delayed. It’s projected to launch in the first half of 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e. This suggests that from 2026 onwards, all high-end smartphones would be released at the end of the year, and the more economical models at the beginning of the year. By the end of 2027, Apple would unveil four more models: the iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Pro Max, iPhone 19 Air, and a second foldable smartphone. It remains unclear whether this would be a successor to the first foldable model or a different variant. The standard iPhone 19 would then likely debut in early 2028.
Foldable iPhones to Feature Under-Screen Selfie Camera, But No Face ID?
The report sheds light on several other details. The foldable iPhones are expected to come equipped with an under-screen selfie camera, in addition to an external selfie camera. However, there is no mention of Face ID; whether this is an oversight or signifies a move away from facial recognition technology is uncertain. Additionally, the foldable models reportedly will not feature a telephoto lens (having only two rear sensors) or a SensorShift stabilization on their main camera.
Lastly, some interesting details: the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max might include a variable aperture on the primary camera module, similar to Huawei devices, and the iPhone 19 Pro and Pro Max could incorporate an even larger camera sensor than the one currently used in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The document also dispels some rumors claiming that successors to the iPhone Air might include a second rear camera sensor. As for other specifications such as screen, processor, RAM, storage, and battery, JP Morgan has not revealed any details.
