Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 7: Sleeker, More Powerful, But Pricier!

Galaxy Z

Samsung has recently unveiled its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with a particular focus on the latter. The South Korean brand is positioning the Z Fold 7 as an ultra-premium, technically robust, yet remarkably thin device.

The Fold has undergone a stunning transformation! Samsung has just introduced its brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 7. This iteration marks a significant departure from previous models, as the company has completely redesigned the device. The bulky chassis of earlier versions has been replaced with a sleek, ultra-thin frame. Finally!

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is 26% thinner than the Z Fold 6. When unfolded, it measures just 4.2 mm and 8.9 mm when folded. That’s only slightly thicker than an S25 Ultra! Consequently, we now have a phone that doesn’t resemble a tank and is less likely to bulge out of pockets. It’s also lighter, weighing just 215 grams. Moreover, it boasts an IP48 certification, along with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the chassis and Ceramic 2 for the screens. A significant enhancement in design, indeed.

Redesigned External Display, More Robust Internal Screen

Another significant upgrade in the Z Fold 7 is the external display. At 6.5 inches, it features a 21:9 ratio, making it wider than previous models, which enhances usability. This is especially beneficial for those with larger fingers, as typing is easier in this format. Samsung notes that Fold users spend three-quarters of their time on the external screen, hence the decision to offer a more conventional smartphone screen ratio.

The 8-inch internal screen has also been slightly reworked, featuring an even less noticeable fold and reintroducing the punch hole for the selfie camera (10 Mp). To recall, it was located under the panel in the Z Fold 6, resulting in poor quality. Thus, video calls with the screen open will once again be feasible.

The camera system has also seen significant improvements, including a 200-megapixel main sensor, the same as on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the other two sensors remain modest at 12 and 10 megapixels (ultra-wide and telephoto, respectively). It’s a bit disappointing for such a premium product. Otherwise, the Fold 7 is technically solid, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite and a 4400 mAh battery.

Price Increase

Design has been a major focus with this model. Although the Z Fold 7 is not the thinnest in its class (that title goes to the Honor Magic V5), the reduction in thickness is still significant for users. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be available in black, gray, and blue. Here are the announced prices:

  • 256 GB: 2099 euros
  • 512 GB: 2219 euros
  • 1 TB: 2519 euros

This represents a significant price increase compared to the Z Fold 6, which is regrettable. The smartphone, along with the Z Flip 7, will hit the market starting July 25 2025.
