Canva’s Conversational AI Now Supports 17 Languages
On September 25, 2025, Canva announced a global expansion of its design-focused conversational AI. Initially launched in April of the same year, the tool now supports a total of 17 languages, including German, Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish. This update expands Canva’s reach to 31 new markets and aims to facilitate smoother and culturally relevant creation processes by eliminating language barriers.
“The majority of our 240 million users operate in languages other than English […] A significant part of Canva’s global success is our commitment to delivering a product that resonates with the local context,” says Cameron Adams, cofounder and Chief Product Officer at Canva.
Canva also notes that its AI “now incorporates an enhanced understanding of cultural contexts, visual preferences, and communication styles unique to each region and language”. It remains to be seen how this commitment to adaptation will manifest in the user experience.

Canva’s AI operates as a conversational interface embedded within the platform. Users can give instructions, either through text or voice, and immediately receive multiple design suggestions. These suggestions can be directly edited in Canva, allowing users to alter proposed elements or add content from the platform’s library.
The goal is to streamline graphic design. Users do not need to be proficient in specialized software; they can focus on their message while the AI handles the formatting. But what about the outcomes? From our evaluations, Canva’s AI still has significant improvements to make before it can match the sensitivity of a human artist.
