The 2026 Salary Guide released by Robert Half underscores the critical role of IT and digital professions in business settings. While salary increases are expected to be modest next year across many sectors, the allure of tech and digital roles continues to thrive. High-demand roles among recruiters include system and network administrators, IT project managers, infrastructure managers, and information systems security managers (ISSMs).
With digital projects accelerating across the company, IT and Tech teams are at the forefront of managing significant transformations. They are becoming key drivers of competitiveness and innovation. This strategic importance increases their influence and raises expectations from both employers and talent, according to Robert Half.
Companies Seeking Specialized Profiles with High Salaries
As “more than one in three companies plan to bolster their IT teams in 2026,” hiring will focus on specialized profiles that blend deep technical expertise (in areas like cloud, cybersecurity, AI, data engineering) with a business perspective. Such rare talents are prompting nearly three out of four businesses, across all types of organizations, to consider “higher compensation” to attract the best in the field. The goal is to secure systems and speed up digital transformations, especially as AI reshapes the workplace.
Information security, infrastructure, and IT projects are among the areas where companies aim to recruit the most in 2026. Robert Half highlights the most sought-after technical skills, including:

- Project and program management
- Business intelligence and reporting
Cybersecurity is the most sought-after skill by companies (47%) and the most financially rewarded (42% of companies associate it with higher salaries and bonuses), both in SMEs and large corporations.
It’s important to note that while salary remains a key factor, it is no longer sufficient. Flexibility, recognition, and career development opportunities are the main criteria for retaining new hires. “In this demanding context, companies must refine their HR strategies to better understand and meet the expectations of rare and highly sought-after profiles,” the firm advises.
