A recent leak has provided the necessary details to contrast the design of the Galaxy S26 Ultra with its predecessor, and more importantly, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Featuring more rounded corners and slimmer edges, here’s how these two smartphones will stand apart.
There seems to be little left to uncover about the Galaxy S26 Ultra, assuming the myriad leaks in recent months are accurate. Consequently, the conversation has shifted towards the design of the smartphone. According to reports, Samsung has made a significantly bold choice in design, although it follows the trend set by their past experiments. Unlike the Galaxy S24 Ultra which featured right-angled corners, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to have much more rounded corners.
However, as mentioned, this isn’t exactly new for the series, as the Galaxy S25 Ultra also incorporated rounded corners. The notable difference lies in the radius of these curves. In a recent post on his X account (formerly Twitter), the leaker UniverseIce shared an image of the protective case revealed earlier this week, placing it next to the case of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

What the Galaxy S26 Ultra will look like next to the iPhone 17 Pro Max
As you can see from the image above, the upcoming flagship from Samsung will have much rounder edges than the current model. It will also be slightly larger: measuring 163.4 mm compared to 162.8 mm for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and a tad wider by just 0.3 mm. However, it is expected to be thinner – excluding its rather bulky camera module.
But there’s more. UniverseIce also compared the smartphone with the forthcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, whose protective case has also been leaked. Regarding the curvature of the corners, the difference is quite clear. As visible in the image below, Apple’s smartphone clearly takes the lead in this aspect. It also appears to have slightly slimmer edges, although the difference may not be very noticeable on the finished products.
