As we step into 2026, nPerf has just released its annual rankings of the best internet service providers (ISPs) in France for both fixed and mobile internet connections in 2025. Remarkably, one operator has topped the charts in both categories. Find out which one in this article.

Aside from subscription costs, the performance of fixed and mobile internet connections is a crucial factor when selecting an ISP. To get an insight into the top internet service provider, one can refer to the rankings provided by nPerf. Each year, they announce the results of tests conducted throughout metropolitan France over the previous year based on their metrics system.

During the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, the results of which were recently published, one of the prominent ISPs—namely Orange, Free, SFR, and Bouygues Telecom—has stood out significantly: this operator has been declared the number one in both fixed and mobile internet performances.

Bouygues Telecom: Leading Provider in Both Fixed and Mobile Internet Connections

To determine the rankings for the best ISP for internet connections, 2,445,675 WiFi connection tests and 1,239,174 mobile internet tests were conducted. The evaluation is based on several factors: the performance of download speeds for downloading content, upload speeds for sending large files, streaming quality for smooth playback, latency for call quality, speed for browsing or video downloading, and the responsiveness of web navigation.

The operator that has been doubly honored for the year 2025 is Bouygues Telecom. This top position for Wi-Fi connections in metropolitan France marks the seventh consecutive time it has achieved this. It ranks ahead of Orange and Free, with SFR coming in last. What sets Bouygues Telecom apart from the previous year in overall fixed connections? With 162,219 nPoints, the ISP clinched the top spot across all indicators (compared to four in 2024): showing an improvement of over 27%, it managed to surpass Free in download speeds – even boosting its power by 35%.

It is also Bouygues Telecom that, for the first time, climbed to the top spot for mobile internet connections – thus overthrowing SFR, the leader for 2024. This top placement is not surprising, as the operator ranked first in several metrics, accumulating 95,623 nPoints: upload speeds, latency, navigation, and YouTube video streaming. The ISP is also the leader in mobile internet connections over 5G.

In summary, 2025 was the year for Bouygues Telecom: will 2026 follow the same pattern? Regardless, this ranking serves as a significant selling point for the operator, underlining their claims of excellence and ability to meet customer needs.
