OnePlus Pad 3 Set to Launch Next Month Featuring Premium Processor and Exclusive Mac Integration Unavailable on iPads

The upcoming OnePlus Pad 3, a standout in our current best Android tablets roundup, is scheduled for release on June 5, as revealed in an exclusive discussion with Celina Shi, Chief Marketing Officer at OnePlus Europe.

During the announcement, Shi shared exciting details about the new features of the OnePlus Pad 3, including enhanced hardware, advanced software capabilities, and a revamped design.

“Over the past two years, we’ve established ourselves as leaders in delivering high-performance and highly functional tablets,” Shi commented. “We are eager to continue this trend with the OnePlus Pad 3,” she added, proclaiming that it will “transform the Android tablet landscape in 2025.”

The High-Performance Chipset You’ve Been Waiting For

OnePlus has chosen to equip the Pad 3 with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, marking its debut in tablets, according to Shi. This chip has been previously utilized in smartphones such as the OnePlus 13 for several months.

Competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and S10 Ultra currently use the Dimensity 9300 Plus chip, and Apple continues with its proprietary A-series and M-series chips in devices like the iPad Air and iPad Pro. This sets the stage for an intriguing competition once we review the Pad 3.

Enhanced Productivity Tools for Both Android and Apple Users

The OnePlus Pad 3 will operate on OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15, mirroring the software environment of the OnePlus 13 series. Beyond the general enhancements of this new OS, the Pad 3 will introduce an upgraded version of Open Canvas, the versatile multi-app interface featured on the Pad 2 and the OnePlus Open foldable.

“OnePlus’ Open Canvas is the ultimate multitasking interface for large-screen devices,” Shi stated. “It allows you to run multiple apps simultaneously and switch between them smoothly, ensuring an uninterrupted workflow.” While promising improvements to Open Canvas, Shi chose not to provide further details.

Apple users will find the OnePlus Pad 3 particularly appealing due to additional software enhancements that facilitate integration with Mac devices. This includes remote Mac control and simplified file transfer through drag-and-drop capabilities, as explained by Shi. This feature, first introduced with the Oppo Find N5, allows users to remotely access their Mac desktop and use on-screen trackpad gestures and a full keyboard. This functionality, absent in iPads and iPhones, can be incredibly useful for accessing Mac files remotely for work or personal use.

A Fresh and Stylish Blue Design

In terms of design, the OnePlus Pad 3 introduces a new aesthetic with its camera placement shifting to the top left corner in a pill-shaped module, moving away from the central circular camera block seen in its predecessors. Shi describes this new placement as “a sleek, modern look.”

Shi also unveiled the new color for the European market, Storm Blue—a muted royal blue that exudes sophistication and style. This suggests that different color options might be available in other regions, though this has not been the case with previous OnePlus tablets in Europe or North America.

While the exact date for open sales of the OnePlus Pad 3 remains undisclosed, Shi confirmed that pre-orders will commence on the launch date with various early-bird discounts and incentives available directly through OnePlus’ official website.
