Leaked Geekbench scores reveal impressive performance

The anticipated M5 iPad Pro is set to debut either in October or possibly early 2026, according to recent speculations. This upcoming model is expected to mirror the design of the current M4 iPad Pro but will feature notable enhancements internally.

A Russian YouTuber known as Wylascom recently uploaded a video allegedly unboxing the new M5 iPad Pro. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Wylascom also leaked information about the M4 MacBook Pro just weeks before its official announcement last year.

The video includes an English voiceover, so language barriers won’t obscure the details. Fundamentally, the primary upgrade appears to be the new M5 chip along with an increase in RAM capacity.

According to Wylacom, he possesses a 256GB base model of the iPad Pro, which now boasts 12GB of RAM, a step up from the 8GB found in the previous M4 model. This suggests that Apple will likely continue offering the iPad Pro with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.

Comparing Benchmark Scores

In the second part of the video, Wylacom benchmarks both the M4 and M5 iPad Pros using Geekbench. The results show a clear improvement. The M5 achieves 4,133 in single-core and 15,437 in multi-core performance, with a Metal score of 74,568. Metal refers to Apple’s graphics processing framework.

For context, in lab tests conducted by Tom’s Guide, the M4 iPad Pro registered scores of 3,692 and 14,512 respectively. The M5 iPad Pro shows a performance increase of about 10-15% over the M4. While specific metal tests weren’t conducted by us, Wylacom’s video indicates a Metal score of 55,702 for the M4, making the M5’s GPU roughly 35% faster than its predecessor.

The improvements suggest that the next generation iPad Pro will be more appealing to gamers. Even more so, the 1TB model is expected to feature even more efficient cores and additional RAM, enhancing its performance further.

Anticipated Launch and Pricing

It is anticipated that Apple will organize an event or issue press releases for several of its devices sometime in October. This lineup is expected to include the new iPad Pro as well as potentially the M5 MacBook Pro.

While there have been no specific leaks regarding the price of the M5 iPad Pro, it is unlikely to be inexpensive. The 11-inch M4 iPad Pro was priced starting at $999, and the 13-inch model at $1299 for the base 256GB version.

Prices for the M5 are expected to start at similar levels, though they could potentially increase due to tariffs, although Apple has so far managed to avoid these increases.
