Following recent reveals of the redesigned antenna placements on the iPhone 17 Pro, Majin Bu has updated his article to include a photo of a chassis freshly manufactured on an assembly line of an Asian subcontractor for Apple. This image helps confirm multiple rumors about the design of this new model that have been circulating over the past few months.

Confirmed Design Elements

The back chassis of both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be crafted from aluminum in a unibody style, which was first indicated by analyst Jeff Pu over a year ago, in May 2024. It remains unclear whether these models will completely forego titanium, but it is certain that the rear structure of the phone, including the camera block protection, will be aluminum.

The chassis also shows a concave rectangular slot prepared to house a glass plate for MagSafe wireless charging compatibility (along with a cutout for the coil, which notably does not form a complete circle). This change was first mentioned by The Information last November. The Apple logo on the back of the iPhone will be lowered, centered vertically relative to the glass plate rather than the full height of the phone.

Antenna and Camera Innovations

We can also see the new antenna placements mentioned by Majin Bu on Monday. There are two cuts in the aluminum at the bottom and two at the top, and one can discern the top antenna discreetly wrapping around the camera block. There seems to be something noteworthy at the very bottom of the phone, under the glass plate, marked by a large beige area aligned with the two lateral antennas. The purpose of the square cutout to the right of the MagSafe coil remains unknown at this point.

The three cameras will continue to be arranged in a triangle but will now be housed within a block that spans the entire width of the phone. Jon Prosser had shown images of this layout as early as last February. This expansion will allow for increased space, whether to accommodate a more powerful periscopic telephoto lens (rumors suggest a 7x or 8x zoom achieved by quadrupling the sensor’s resolution) or to house some components and make room for a larger battery.

Leak Confirmation and Upcoming Reveal

While this new leak regarding the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max doesn’t reveal much new information—given the plethora of leaks in recent months—it does serve to confirm the accuracy of many rumors as well as the overall design of these upcoming models, which are expected to be unveiled next month, likely on Tuesday, September 9.
