iPhone 17 : des coques trop moches pour être vraies ?

New Fabric Case May Join Apple’s iPhone 17 Lineup

Since the discontinuation of the FineWoven, iPhone buyers have faced limited choices, with Apple offering only a small selection of plastic and silicone cases. According to the often well-informed leaker Majin Bu, Apple may expand its range of cases this year. The company is reportedly planning to introduce a new fabric case option that would launch alongside the iPhone 17 series.

Apple’s FineWoven was a significant misstep. Debuted with the iPhone 15, this “finely woven” material failed to impress both in terms of aesthetics and tactile feel. The cases aged poorly, and their frequent returns by customers were noted by Amazon. Discontinued just a year after its introduction, Cupertino did not revisit fabric cases for the iPhone 16.

Potential Features of the New Case

According to Majin Bu, the successor to the FineWoven might be less luxurious but more functional. It is said to have a rubbery, grippy texture that improves handling. The cases would feature a visibly textile texture with a “high-tech” design. Scratch resistance and durability are reportedly enhanced compared to the FineWoven.

The focus seems to be on practicality over beauty. The idea is still to market the new product as eco-friendly and aligned with Apple’s environmental goals. The proposed colors are matte green, orange, blue, and purple. It remains to be seen if this successor actually exists and if it will be more durable than its predecessor.

Other Innovations and Additions

In other news, leaker Majin Bu claims that Apple could also unveil “Liquid Glass” cases, though details are scarce. He also suggests that this year’s silicone cases will come with a hole for attaching a wrist strap. All will presumably be revealed at the September keynote, rumored to be held on Tuesday the 9th.
