iOS 27 : du nouveau pour Safari, Météo, Image Playground...

Mark Gurman Unveils iOS 27 Features on Bloomberg

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has recently shared insights into the upcoming features of iOS 27. He detailed significant updates including a makeover of the Camera app and various enhancements to Siri. Further, Gurman provided a mixed bag of information about other developments that will be announced at the WWDC on June 8, which include updates to three specific apps and improvements to three system elements.

New Features in Safari, Weather, and Image Playground Apps

The first update is related to the Safari browser, which will sport a new homepage layout. It will now have four tabs at the top of the interface, simplifying access to favorites, bookmarks, a reading list for saved articles, and the browsing history.

The second update involves the Weather app, which will undergo a slight design change and feature a new “Conditions” tab for each city’s page. “This panel allows users to toggle between different data points beyond just temperature, such as rain and wind information. Currently, accessing these requires navigating to a different page within the app,” Gurman notes.

The third update is for the Image Playground app, which is set for a complete interface overhaul. “The interface for generated images has also been redesigned. It now features a simplified style centered around a large rounded square, with fewer controls and a new ‘Describe an Edit’ option to modify an image right after it’s created,” explained Gurman. Apple has also reportedly tested more advanced models to enable the generation of more realistic images.

System-Level Enhancements

On the system front, the tab bars across various applications are being redesigned to include the search button, which is currently positioned separately on the right side of the screen. This unified tab bar was previously tested on the App Store and the Games app with iOS 26.4, and will now be rolled out to additional apps like Podcasts, TV, Music, Health, and News.

Additionally, Apple is revamping the animation for displaying the iPhone’s virtual keyboard. “A new animation will show the keys sliding up from the bottom of the iPhone’s interface,” Gurman describes. Previously, the entire keyboard would slide up from the bottom of the screen.

Lastly, Apple plans to add “Undo” and “Redo” buttons to the home screen customization menu, which will be particularly useful for reversing accidental changes to the arrangement of icons and widgets.
