Samsung’s premium models have often been criticized for lagging behind competitors in terms of charging speeds, especially wireless charging. Fortunately, it appears that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will see significant improvements in this area.
With the official unveiling of the future Galaxy S26 models just a few months away, details about them are slowly emerging through various leaks. However, getting a clear picture of Samsung’s next flagship devices is challenging due to the numerous twists and turns in their development, including speculations about the existence of an Edge or Plus model.
One area where the Galaxy S26 is particularly expected to shine is in charging capabilities – with wireless charging notably lagging behind. Currently, Samsung’s charging speeds are quite unimpressive compared to what competitors offer. For instance, while the OnePlus 15’s 7,300 mAh battery supports 50 W wireless charging, Galaxy smartphones have not exceeded 15 W. But this could change with the Galaxy S26: code lines found by Android Authority in the One UI 8.5 builds specifically mention « super fast wireless charging ».

Galaxy S26: Samsung to Significantly Enhance Wireless Charging, a First Since 2020
Samsung is reportedly preparing a major upgrade in charging technology for its Galaxy S26 series. In terms of wired charging, the Ultra model could even reach 60 W. This is suggested by a line of code in the One UI 8.5 builds: while there is no explicit mention of 60 W charging, the appearance of a “level 4” and “super fast charging 3.0” implies this charging power – with “level 3” corresponding to 45 W.
Moreover, Samsung is also focusing on enhancing wireless charging speeds. Currently, One UI 8 includes two lines of code: “wireless charging” generally associated with chargers of 5 to 10 W, and “fast wireless charging” which appears with 15 W chargers. The new feature in One UI 8.5 is an entry indicating “super fast wireless charging”, suggesting that the speed could finally exceed 15 W. This seems to confirm rumors that the Galaxy S26 could support up to 20 W wirelessly, while the Ultra model might reach 25 W – potentially reducing charging time by 40%.
This would be the first enhancement in wireless charging technology from Samsung since the Galaxy S20 series, which was the first to support 15 W wireless charging. Since then, all Galaxy S series have been capped at this limit – while competitors, like OnePlus, have made significant progress. While this may not allow Samsung to catch up completely with rival models, the improvement is nonetheless a welcome development.
