Exciting Update Alert: New iPad 12 & iPad Air 8 To Launch With Significant Upgrade

Now might not be the best time to buy an iPad. Apple is rumored to be on the brink of launching new models very soon, potentially including a significant first for the entry-level version of their popular tablet.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is set to release the iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 imminently. Both models are expected to feature significant improvements in their processing chips, with the base model iPad likely getting an A18 or A19 chip, and the iPad Air possibly equipped with a robust M4 processor.

Expected Enhancements

While the upcoming iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 may not sport drastic design changes from the current iPad 11 and iPad Air M3, leaks suggest that the more affordable iPad might include an A19 chip, which is also used in the iPhone 17. This upgrade could boost performance by up to 50%, and importantly, it would introduce Apple Intelligence features to the tablet.

Another notable improvement for the iPad 12 could be an increase in RAM from 6GB to 8GB, aligning it with the iPhone 17’s specifications. For the iPad Air 8, expectations are set for the introduction of the M4 chip, which would bring it closer to the performance level of a MacBook Air M4. This update might also include Apple’s custom N1 wireless chip, enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity significantly.

Both the iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 are likely to be unveiled this spring, following Apple’s pattern of launching new iPad models in March, as seen with the 11th-gen iPad and the M3-powered iPad Air in March 2025. Additionally, the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models are also anticipated to launch around the same time.

A Simple Update with Major Performance Improvements

Despite potential chip and memory enhancements and the inclusion of Apple Intelligence features, the new iPad 12 and iPad Air with M4 are expected to maintain a similar appearance to their predecessors. This includes the same size options (11-inch for the iPad and 11- and 13-inch for the iPad Air), the same 12MP cameras, and Liquid Retina display (2360 x 1640) screens. Essentially, while the designs remain consistent, the focus will be on internal upgrades.

It will be interesting to see whether the base model iPad 12 will feature an A18 or A19 chipset. Previously, Apple has been known to skip a generation with its chipsets for the entry-level iPad models, as seen when the iPad 11 received an A16 upgrade following the iPad 10’s A14 chip. However, the standout feature will likely be the support for Apple Intelligence, bringing AI capabilities to the entire iPad lineup.

While updates about the anticipated iPad mini 8 are still under wraps, which is rumored to include even more substantial upgrades like an OLED display, more iPad updates are reportedly on the horizon, bringing them up to speed with the iPad Pro M5.
