Morgan Wandell Departs Apple to Launch New Production Company

After nearly a decade of spearheading the international development of Apple TV, Morgan Wandell is leaving the tech giant to establish his own production company named Kismet, reports Deadline. Wandell, who came to Apple from Amazon Studios in October 2017, has been instrumental in expanding Apple’s international catalog. During his tenure, he was involved in the development of several shows including Tehran, Acapulco, Disclaimer, The New Look, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

“Leading the growth of Apple TV’s international catalog has been the greatest privilege of my career,” Morgan Wandell expressed. “I am deeply thankful to Jamie [Erlicht], Zack [Van Amburg], and all my colleagues at Apple, as well as the extraordinary creators we’ve partnered with globally. Leaving such an outstanding company as Apple was personally challenging, but I have always aspired to start my own company.”

Future Collaborations and Leadership Changes

Although Wandell is set to leave Cupertino, he is reportedly in talks with Apple to continue as a producer on some projects he initiated. In his absence, Matt Cherniss, who is the current director of U.S. programming and development at Apple TV, will take over the Monarch franchise and other series previously managed by Wandell. Additionally, Jay Hunt, currently the creative director for Apple TV in Europe and overseeing series like Slow Horses and Hijack, is slated to step up and oversee international and local language productions.
