Apple Announces Acquisition of PlasmaSolve
In a formal announcement to the European Commission as part of its compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple has disclosed its recent acquisition of PlasmaSolve. This Czech company is known for its expertise in developing and enhancing plasma-based coating processes. PlasmaSolve has also developed a software named MatSight, which assists manufacturers in simulating the outcomes of various vapor deposition processes. This technology could potentially be used to enhance features such as the scratch resistance of the iPhone’s aluminum chassis.
Background of PlasmaSolve
Established in 2016 by Adam Obrusnik, PlasmaSolve is a compact company consisting of no more than 10 employees. In its statement, Apple confirms that it will acquire all shares of the company and plans to hire several of its current employees.
