Since its official release on September 9, ByteDance’s image generation model, Seedream 4.0, continues to lead the Text-to-Image Arena rankings. This platform evaluates the performance of such technologies in real-time based on user votes.
Top 10 Image Generators of October 2025
Equipped with advanced multimodal capabilities and, according to the parent company of TikTok, the ability to “seamlessly switch between artistic styles”, Seedream 4.0 maintains the top spot for the second consecutive month. Meanwhile, its predecessor, Seedream 3.0, which also led the rankings last August, has moved up to the 5th place.
The trend is equally positive for Google, which has long been overshadowed by OpenAI, Midjourney, or Black Forest Labs in the image generation field. Its three latest models — Imagen 4 Ultra, Gemini 2.5 Flash, and Imagen 4 — are positioned between ByteDance’s two models, taking the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places respectively.

Conversely, OpenAI continues its downward trajectory, with little evolution in its models in recent months. With a score of 1,135 Elo, GPT-5 is ranked 7th, behind Kuaishou Kling AI’s Kolors 2.1 and Leonardo.AI’s Lucid Origin Fast. Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext, launched in May, barely holds onto a spot in the top half of the rankings. Notably, Midjourney and Reve, once praised for their text-to-image generation performance, are now ranked 30th and 18th respectively.
Here are the top-performing image generation models for October 2025, according to the rankings provided by Artificial Analysis:

What are the Ranking Criteria for the Text-to-Image Arena?
Developed by the independent body Artificial Analysis, the Text-to-Image Arena ranking system is based on a series of user-judged duels. In each duel, an identical prompt is presented to two anonymized models, and voters decide which model produces the most relevant result. The outcomes of these duels are used to assign each model an Elo score, which fluctuates based on wins and losses. Gaining a victory against a higher-ranked opponent increases a model’s Elo, while losing to a lower-ranked model results in a loss of Elo.
