In early August, Adobe integrated its creative and productivity applications into a single plugin for ChatGPT. The company then mentioned forthcoming versions for Slack and Gemini, with the first now delivered.
Slackbot Selects Adobe Tools Based on Conversation Context
The Adobe for Slack feature is implemented as an MCP app that installs within the workspace and is controlled via the Slackbot. Users describe in natural language the outcome they want, and the assistant selects the appropriate tools. It can also pull from existing conversations, files, channels, and allowed canvases to fulfill the request, avoiding the need to re-import a brief or visual already shared by a colleague.

“Millions of people use Slack daily to collaborate, share ideas, and advance their projects. Chances are, most of the contextual elements for your next deliverable are already there. With Adobe for Slack, you can leverage this context to create high-quality images, videos, documents, and more, right within Slack,” Adobe explains.

The tools available in Slack come from the following software:
- Firefly
- Express
- Photoshop
- Premiere
- Acrobat
- InDesign
- Illustrator
- Stock
- Lightroom
Adobe highlights the following use cases, primarily focusing on formatting and mass production:
- Turning the summary of a brief or canvas into a PDF, image, or video,
- Searching for a Creative Cloud asset by topic, style, or mood, and then refining it within the conversation,
- Adapting an approved campaign visual to different social media formats,
- Converting spreadsheet data into a shareable document or visual,
- Editing batches of images, including background removal, unwanted element deletion, light and hue adjustments, cropping, etc.
According to Jaime DeLanghe, chief product officer at Slack, quoted in Adobe’s press release, “integrating these advanced creative and productivity tools directly into this environment allows teams to create without interrupting their conversations”. However, Adobe notes that using its applications is still necessary for precise pixel control or more extensive document manipulation. The MCP app handles repetitive tasks and variations, not fine production.
Integration Limited to Business+ and Enterprise+ Plans
Adobe for Slack is available globally on desktop, web, and mobile. Currently, access is limited to the paid Business+ and Enterprise+ plans of the messaging service. From Adobe’s side, an account is not mandatory: a guest mode opens some of the tools. Connecting unlocks generative AI capabilities, access to Creative Cloud files, and the ability to continue projects from one session to another.
Installation is completed in four steps:
- In the “Agents and Applications” section, find and install the Adobe application,
- Open a direct conversation with Slackbot,
- Click on the Applications button,
- Select the + icon, or Connect, next to Adobe,
- Continue in guest mode or connect to an Adobe account.
