Amazon Kindle 2024 — now $103 (was $149)
The previous-generation Amazon Kindle remains a terrific budget-friendly e-reader, especially at this reduced price. It offers a crisp screen and can last for about six weeks between charges in typical use, making it a smart pick if you want a straightforward device for long reading sessions. Amazon is also bundling three months of Kindle Unlimited with some purchases. It would be nicer if it were waterproof, but for the price it’s an unbeatable basic Kindle.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2024 — now $149 (was $199)
The Paperwhite continues to be our top-rated Kindle. With a 7-inch glare-free display and roughly three months of battery life, it scored highly in our review for its overall performance. The latest Paperwhite iteration speeds up page turns by roughly 25% compared with earlier models and delivers a bright, backlit screen that’s excellent for reading in varied lighting conditions.
Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 2024 — now $189 (was $289)
If you want color on an e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft is built for that purpose. Its full-color panel makes comics, illustrations and book covers look far more engaging than on monochrome models. Although it’s pricier than standard Kindles, it delivers on the promise of a vivid, color-first reading experience — and the current discount makes it a much more tempting purchase.
New Kindles are coming
It’s worth mentioning that Amazon introduced fresh Kindle models for 2026. Those new devices aren’t discounted for Prime Day, but the earlier-generation units are good buys at their current sale prices.
The new Kindle 2026 (retail $149) is thinner than previous versions and uses a six-inch display. Amazon’s goal with this design was to make the device easier to slip into a pocket or small bag, and the slimmer profile certainly helps with portability.

The Paperwhite 2026 (around $249) has been slimmed down and lightened compared with its predecessor. It’s waterproof, includes an adjustable warm light for easier nighttime reading, and boasts the strongest contrast seen in a Paperwhite to date — producing deeper blacks, sharp text and images that really stand out.
The Kindle Colorsoft 2026 (about $289) features a thoroughly revamped screen. New micro-deflectors reduce stray light and improve uniformity across the display, while an ultra-thin optical coating enhances clarity. Those improvements come at a price, though: $289 is an amount many buyers expect to pay for a more general-purpose tablet rather than a dedicated e-reader.
