Suggestion du nom de dossier par le Finder sur macOS 27

Enhanced File Naming Feature in macOS 27 Golden Gate

With the introduction of macOS 27 Golden Gate, a new feature has been integrated that automatically suggests names for new files based on their content. Demonstrated in a screenshot by Aaron Perris, when you start to name a file, simply pressing the down arrow key will bring up a suggested name which can then be accepted by hitting Enter. For instance, in the example shown, the Finder identified that the text file created in TextEdit was a grocery list.

Advanced Suggestions for Folder Names

The system extends further where the Finder can also automatically propose names for a new folder based on a selection of files grouped together, especially if these files share a common theme. This capability is illustrated in another screenshot shared by Aaron Perris.

Underlying Technology and Limitations

This new feature leverages Apple Intelligence and Siri technology, but currently, it appears to be operational only in English. Apple has acknowledged a glitch related to this feature, stating that the suggested names for files or folders might be more generic than their actual content. For example, a folder exclusively containing bird photographs might be labeled under broader categories like “Wildlife” or “Animal Photos” instead of specifying the bird species.

Compatibility and Availability

As of the latest update at 13:49, it seems that this feature requires a very recent Mac model (equipped with M3 chip and later) that supports Apple’s latest local AI models. Attempts to activate this functionality on a Mac mini with an M2 Pro chip were unsuccessful, and similar results were reported by colleagues at iGeneration using a MacBook Neo configured in English.
