Apple Introduces Paid Tier for Advanced AI Services
During the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2026, Apple announced the introduction of a paid subscription model for its enhanced Apple Intelligence platform and Siri AI. Craig Federighi, a key speaker at the event, highlighted that new features, specifically image generation capabilities, will have a daily usage cap due to their reliance on robust server models. While complete details remain undisclosed, Apple mentioned that “extended access is possible with most iCloud+ subscriptions.” More information is expected to be revealed with the official launch of iOS 27 in September.

Current Features of Apple Intelligence Remain Free with Usage Limits
For the time being, all features of Apple Intelligence will remain free, although with usage limitations on certain functions. Apple is planning to monetize its remote AI services to cater to its heavier users. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this initiative is just the beginning of introducing paid features. He suggests that “more conversational AI features, which rely on world knowledge and automatic generation, will gradually be subject to throughput limitations and will become paid services, similar to ChatGPT.” However, functionalities that can operate locally will continue to be free and without any restrictions. Despite the high costs associated with running the Apple Intelligence servers, Apple aims to capitalize on these investments.
