John Ternus Bullish on Apple Vision Pro’s Future: Inside Scoop on Revolutionary Tech!

John Ternus confiant dans l'avenir de l'Apple Vision Pro
John Ternus has reportedly not been a strong proponent of developing Apple’s Vision Pro. Journalist Mark Gurman noted two years ago that Ternus was even opposed to it and had little involvement in its development. Despite this, the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple, who will take over as the company’s leader from Tim Cook on September 1st, has no plans to discontinue the virtual reality headset even though it has not been selling well. In an interview with Tom’s Guide, John Ternus stated that the device represents a long-term investment for Apple:

I believe we are just scratching the surface of spatial computing. We are incredibly excited. The Vision Pro is an extraordinary product. As Joz mentioned, it’s as if we have glimpsed into the future and brought it back to the present. And we continue to find new and exciting applications. There are so many interesting possibilities in business, healthcare, and other fields, and this potential will only continue to grow. It’s thrilling, and we are just at the beginning of this journey.

Apple has reportedly paused the development of a lighter and less expensive Apple Vision Air, which has not been completely scrapped but is not currently a priority compared to the urgency of launching connected glasses. According to recent updates, Apple might launch the first models without a display by 2027, while the first models with a display could arrive by 2029. It is still unclear if these will be able to run visionOS, but that remains a medium-term goal.
