The waiting period for models equipped with higher RAM options can extend up to 16 to 18 weeks. For example, configurations such as the Mac mini M4 with 32GB, Mac mini M4 Pro with 64GB, or the Mac Studio M4 Max with 128GB, may have delivery dates pushed as far back as August 4th if you opt for in-store pickup.

Unprecedented Delays in Apple’s Recent History

Waiting over four months for a Mac is unprecedented in Apple’s modern era. This unusual delay is occurring within a broader context of a RAM shortage impacting the entire industry. These extended wait times raise questions about whether Apple is strategically clearing out inventory in anticipation of the next-generation M5 chips, which are rumored to come with higher-priced options. According to technology journalist Mark Gurman, the launch of these new models could happen soon, possibly in two phases with the Mac Studio releasing around “mid-year” followed by the Mac mini. Similar to the recent updates to the MacBook Air and Pro, the new models are expected to offer doubled storage capacities but at a price increase of around 100 euros.
