As the competition intensifies among major social media platforms to attract and keep creators, including on X, Snap is introducing a strategic new component with the launch of “Creator Subscriptions“, a paid subscription service that allows users to financially support their favorite creators.

Currently, the feature is being alpha tested in the United States starting February 23, 2026, with a select group of profiles. However, France is already identified as one of the next target markets, indicating the company’s plans to speed up monetizing local talent.

A Subscription Model Embedded in Snapchat

As outlined in the official announcement, these subscriptions add a “premium” layer directly integrated into existing uses of the app, including the Stories that have contributed to the social network’s success. Specifically, users can subscribe to a creator to gain access to exclusive content, such as Snaps and Stories available only to subscribers.

The service also includes priority responses to the creator’s public Stories, as well as an ad-free experience on their content. This aims to enhance the connection between influencers and their communities, while rewarding the most dedicated fans.

Creators, on the other hand, maintain some flexibility over pricing, as they can set their own monthly fees, though within ranges suggested by the platform. For Snapchat, the goal is to enable them to test different value levels and establish a steady income over time, supplementing existing programs like the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio.

This announcement comes in a context of particularly fierce competition, as Meta already offers subscriptions for creators on Instagram and Facebook, which provide access to exclusive content and badges.

Thus, Snap aims to solidify its stance, boasting 946 million daily active users in the fourth quarter of 2025. With its user base on Spotlight having increased by 47% year-over-year in the United States, Snapchat is keen on leveraging this momentum for growth.

Gradual Development

Initially, subscriptions will be available on iOS for certain American creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. The program is expected to expand to Canada, the United Kingdom, and France in the coming weeks.

With this feature, Snap aims to turn engagement into sustainable revenue and retain high-audience talents, and with the increasing prevalence of paid subscriptions, the challenge is significant…
