Quick and straightforward. Anod is a new electric bike brand that emerged in 2024, introducing a “hybrid” model concept. The initial version of its e-bike featured a mix of supercapacitors and a small lithium-ion battery, alongside a proprietary regenerative braking motor. We first got our hands on the Anod Hybrid in February 2025 and were quite impressed. However, the anticipated launch never occurred.
This summer, the Paris-based company led by founder Arnaud Malrin took a more drastic turn. Concerned about the not yet fully mastered safety of lithium-ion technology – particularly with the frequent fires – Anod accelerated the development of the second version of the Hybrid. This new model replaced the initial aborted launch, which unfortunately upset early customers due to delivery delays.
Introduced with an unchanged design, the Hybrid 2 fully embraces supercapacitors. However, these aren’t the limited-capacity type used in Pi-Pop bikes but a new generation “infused” with lithium. Capable of enduring over a million cycles without the risk of fire and with a relatively high capacity, it promises record recharge times. It’s a fresh chapter for Anod, before they attempt to persuade other brands to adopt their “S.A.F.E” system for their e-bikes.
Is the Anod Hybrid 2 the electric bike of the future? We tested it for a week over approximately 110 km in the Paris region to determine its capabilities.

A Design Straight Out of Cyberpunk!
The Anod Hybrid 2 features a blocky head tube and equally angular frame and fork, presenting a futuristic visual reminiscent of a future-era Moustache Lundi 27, especially with its split handlebar, ending in Hermanns grips that provide an ergonomic shape and are made from bio-based materials.
One might even think it’s paired with a Tesla Cybertruck given its matte silver gray color and rectangular front lighting.
However, don’t expect it to illuminate your path at night, as the lighting is mainly for visibility, not for seeing. It is fixed and directed upwards. Nevertheless, the bike is well-equipped with standard features like mudguards and a kickstand. There’s no rear or front rack included, but they are available as an affordable add-on (40 euros for both!).
