Notion startup plan

The Notion platform offers a multitude of benefits to small businesses through its Startup plan. Here’s everything you need to know!

Notion stands as a leading collaborative platform globally. An impressive 94% of companies listed in Forbes IA 50, which highlights the most promising private AI companies worldwide, are utilizing Notion. To foster innovation, this San Francisco-based application has introduced a program specifically tailored for emerging businesses: the Startup program.

What is Notion?

Notion is a collaborative platform, accessible on browsers, iOS, Android, PC, and Mac, designed to consolidate all your work in one place, eliminating the need to switch between tools. It enables you to manage your notes, documents, tasks, projects, and boards in a centralized space that your whole team can access.

Notion offers a variety of services tailored to your needs, including a free version for users “who want to organize their projects and their lives”. This version is intended for individual use and provides access to several Notion tools such as Notion Mail, Notion Calendar, or a trial of the platform’s AI. A Plus subscription is also available at a cost of €11.5 per month per user, aimed at “small teams and professionals who want to collaborate”.

The Business subscription, priced at €23.5 per month per user, is designed for “growing businesses that want to work efficiently as a team”. Larger enterprises can also obtain a customized rate after contacting the sales team.

Notion Supports Startups with a Dedicated Plan

Notion has developed a program called “Startup” that allows new businesses to access the Business plan for free, which includes Notion AI, for a limited time.

How to Qualify for Notion’s Startup Program?

To be eligible for the Startup program, you must be a non-paying Notion client, use a professional email address (not Gmail/Outlook), be part of a startup with fewer than 100 employees, and not have previously benefited from a promotion. Once your eligibility is confirmed, two offers are available:

  • Startups affiliated with an approved partner get six months free on the Business plan with Notion AI included,
  • Otherwise, startups that are not affiliated but still eligible get three months of the Business plan with AI for free.

The Startup offer grants direct access to Notion AI, which the platform has enhanced recently with new features. It also provides access to the community of Notion Champions, “experienced users who help teams get started and succeed with Notion”, as noted by the platform.

This offer represents significant value for young startups: the Business plan, costing €23.5 per user per month, can save up to €14,100 for a team of 100 over a period of six months. This is particularly substantial for startups looking to invest in a collaboration tool without straining their budget.

What Does the Business Subscription Offer?

The Business plan is the most expensive offering on Notion (apart from the plan for large enterprises), and it includes a wide range of platform features. Among these, you will have access to:

  • Unlimited use of collaborative blocks, content elements that you can add to a page, such as checkboxes, bullet lists, etc.
  • Customization of your forms or websites.
  • Integration with multiple external tools, like Slack, Gmail, GitHub, Asana, etc.
  • Connection of your employees via SSO as well as private team spaces visible only to added members.
  • Integration of Notion AI and its extensive features, such as Enterprise Search, meeting notes, a search mode to analyze your sources or the web for creating detailed documents and reports.

How to Access the Startup Program?

Simply fill out an online form, where you will need to enter several details to determine your eligibility. For startups with partners, a partner code is required to activate the six months free.
