Faster Full Charging Time and Larger Battery Capacity
Not only has the speed of quick charging improved, but the time it takes to fully charge the iPhone has also significantly decreased. It previously took 81 minutes for the iPhone 17 Pro Max to reach a full charge, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max accomplishes this in only 55 minutes. This is particularly impressive considering that the new model features a larger battery capacity—5,391 mAh in the SIM tray version, compared to the 4,823 mAh battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Increased Power Consumption During Charging
In terms of power consumption during charging, the iPhone 18 Pro Max was able to sustain a 52W charge for 12 minutes. This is a notable increase from last year’s model. A similar test by ChargerLAB on the iPhone 17 Pro Max indicated that it could only handle up to 36W.

Optimal Charging Options
For users accustomed to using Apple’s standard USB-C chargers of 20W, 30W, or 35W, switching to a more robust option like a 70W or higher USB-C charger from a Mac, or the new adjustable 40-60W charger, can dramatically increase charging speed. However, the most significant difference will be seen in the speed of fast charging within the first fifteen minutes when the battery is completely drained.
