Following the reintroduction of the Slide Over feature in iPadOS 26.1 two weeks ago, the third beta of iPadOS 26.2, released to developers last night, has restored the ability to drag and drop apps from the App Library, Dock, and Spotlight into Slide Over and Tile View, as noted by MacRumors.

“If an app is already open in Slide Over, or if two apps are displayed in Tile View, you can drag another app over one of them to replace it. Unlike in iPadOS 18, the previous app remains open, and you can return to it even after closing the new one.” iPadOS 26.2 is set to be finalized and released to the general public in December.
