iOS 26 Simplifies Navigation: Swipe Easier to Return to Previous Page!

June 12, 2025

iOS 26 assouplit le geste pour revenir à la page précédente
Revealed on Monday, iOS 26 introduces a slight modification to the gesture used to navigate back to the previous page. Previously, users needed to swipe the page from the left edge towards the right starting from the screen’s edge. Now, it is no longer required to start from the edge: the swipe can be initiated from the middle of the screen, as long as it doesn’t interfere with any other interface element. This change is much more intuitive.

However, this update does not apply universally across the system. It works seamlessly in Settings, as well as in Music, Contacts, and on the App Store. In Safari, users still need to start the gesture from the screen’s edge. This might change in future beta versions of iOS 26 during the summer, with the final version not expected until September.
