In recent months, Google has expanded its offerings to meet the diverse needs of users of Gemini, its conversational agent. With the recent introduction of Google AI Plus, the Mountain View company now offers four distinct plans, ranging from free access to the Ultra subscription at nearly 275 euros per month. Considering subscribing to a paid plan but finding it hard to navigate? Here’s an overview of the features, prices, and limitations of each option.
Gemini Free: Features and Limitations
Like ChatGPT or Claude, Gemini is available for free and without ads. The app allows users to explore the capabilities of Google’s conversational agent for common tasks such as text generation, paraphrasing, idea suggestions, or summaries.

The free version provides access to three models. The Flash model, optimized for speed, is available without any particular restrictions. The more powerful Pro and Thinking models, however, are subject to variable daily limits, which may fluctuate based on demand. In practice, users report being able to make a few requests per day on these advanced models before being automatically switched to the Flash model.
The free version offers the following features:
- Web search,
- File and image import,
- Image generation with Nano Banana (up to 100 per day) and Nano Banana Pro (up to 3 per day),
- Audio summaries (up to 20 per day),
- Deep Research, limited to 5 reports per month with the Thinking model,
- Slide generation (up to 20 presentations per day),
- Gems (personalized assistants) and Canvas.
However, the restrictions are significant. The context window is capped at 32,000 tokens, which limits the analysis of large documents. Moreover, several advanced features remain inaccessible: video generation with Veo, the Deep Think mode for complex reasoning, the Gemini Agent for autonomous tasks, and scheduled actions. During periods of high demand, free users are also the first to see their limits reduced.
This version is therefore suitable for occasional use or for testing Gemini’s capabilities, but it quickly becomes limited for intensive daily use.
Google AI Plus: Pricing, Features, Limitations
Recently launched, Google AI Plus is the new entry-level offering among the paid plans. Priced at 7.99 euros per month (or 3.99 euros during the first two months), it serves as an intermediate option between the free and Pro versions, similar to what OpenAI offers with ChatGPT Go.
The goal of this plan is to unlock more comfortable access to Gemini’s high-performance models while retaining some limitations. Users of Google AI Plus can make up to 30 requests per day with the Pro model and 90 with the Thinking model, compared to just a handful in the free version.
Google AI Plus notably provides access to:
- An extended context window of 128,000 tokens, allowing for the analysis of longer documents,
- Deep Research with the Pro model (not just Thinking),
- Limited access to video generation with Veo 3.1 Fast,
- Extended access to NotebookLM,
- Scheduled actions, to automate certain recurring tasks,
- 200 GB of cloud storage for Gmail, Drive, and Photos,
- Family sharing with up to five people.
For all these features, usage limits remain lower than those of Google AI Pro. Importantly, this plan does not grant access to Gemini’s most advanced capabilities: Deep Think, the Gemini Agent, and Project Mariner remain exclusive to the Ultra offer. Tools for developers (Jules, Gemini Code Assist, Google Cloud credits) are also absent.
Google AI Pro: Pricing, Features, Limitations
Priced at 21.99 euros per month (with the first month free), Google AI Pro is targeted at advanced users who use Gemini on a daily basis. This is Google’s traditional plan for accessing all the premium features of its conversational agent, comparable to ChatGPT Plus by OpenAI.
The main advantage of this offer is its significantly more generous usage limits. Subscribers can make up to 100 requests per day with the Pro model and 300 with the Thinking model. The context window is expanded to 1 million tokens, allowing for the analysis of large documents, extensive codebases, or reports of several hundred pages.
In addition to the features included in the Plus offer, Google AI Pro provides access to:
- Deep Research with limits up to 50 times higher than the free level, approximately 20 reports per day with the Pro model,
- Extended Nano Banana Pro image generation to 100 images per day (compared to 3 in the free version),
- Video generation with Veo 3.1 Fast in Flow,
- Extended dynamic view (250 prompts per day),
- Scheduled actions with up to 10 simultaneous tasks,
- Extended use for NotebookLM,
- 2 TB of cloud storage for Gmail, Drive, and Photos,
- Google Home Premium Standard included (30 days of event history and Gemini features),
- 10 dollars in monthly Google Cloud credits for developers,
- Priority access to new features.
Pro subscribers also benefit from tools dedicated to development: higher access and limits for Jules (Google’s coding agent), Gemini Code Assist, Gemini CLI, and extended access to Google Antigravity, the company’s in-house agent development platform.
Regarding restrictions, they are generally non-restrictive for most uses. However, some cutting-edge features remain exclusive to the Ultra offer: Deep Think, the Gemini Agent, and Project Mariner are not included. For users who continuously code, produce numerous reports, or extensively exploit advanced reasoning capabilities, these limitations may justify moving to the next tier.
Google AI Ultra: Pricing, Features, Limitations
Priced at 274.99 euros per month (139.99 euros during the first three months), Google AI Ultra is the most comprehensive plan within the Gemini ecosystem. Like ChatGPT Pro at OpenAI, it targets intensive users who require maximum access to AI capabilities, without compromises on features or quotas.
The usage limits here reach their highest level: up to 500 requests per day with the Pro model and 1,500 with the Thinking model. The context window remains set at 1 million tokens, as with the Pro offer.
Google AI Ultra especially stands out for its access to exclusive features, not available in other plans:
- Deep Think, Gemini’s advanced reasoning mode designed to tackle complex problems requiring in-depth reflection (up to 10 prompts per day, with a context window of 192,000 tokens),
- The Gemini Agent, capable of executing multi-step autonomous tasks (up to 200 requests per day and 3 simultaneous tasks),
- Project Mariner, an agent capable of navigating the web and performing actions on your behalf such as booking a trip or ordering groceries (currently available only in the United States).
In terms of quotas, the Ultra offer pushes the limits on all features:
- Deep Research: up to 200 reports per day,
- Nano Banana Pro image generation: up to 1,000 per day,
- Video generation: up to 5 per day with Veo 3.1 (not the Fast version, which is less powerful),
- 30 TB of cloud storage for Gmail, Drive, and Photos.
Ultra subscribers also enjoy several additional benefits:
- An individual YouTube Premium subscription included (in eligible countries),
Google Home Premium Advanced (continuous video history, event descriptions…),
- 100 dollars in monthly Google Cloud credits,
- The highest limits for development tools (Jules, Gemini Code Assist, Gemini CLI, Google Antigravity).
Does this price gap with Google AI Pro justify itself? It depends on the profile. For developers who intensively use coding agents, researchers who produce dozens of reports daily, or professionals who wish to delegate complex tasks to AI, the investment can be defended. However, Google AI Ultra caters to a particularly narrow audience, and most users, even advanced ones, will find their needs met with the Pro offer.
