Un prototype d'iPad avec seulement 8 Go de stockage
An intriguing prototype of an iPad with just 8GB of storage was recently showcased by AppleDemoYT, a channel known for revealing Apple’s test devices. This particular model, identified as iPad‌2,4, dates back to 2011. According to the source, Apple was in the midst of its Engineering Validation Testing (EVT) phase at that time, a critical stage where the functionality of all components is verified. During this era, it was still customary for Apple to engrave the storage capacity directly onto the back of the iPad.

Fourteen years later, this revelation confirms that Apple had indeed considered, and even experimented with, a version of the iPad featuring just 8GB of storage. In 2012, DigiTimes reported that Apple planned to release an 8GB version of the iPad 2 as a means to offer a lower-priced entry point into its tablet range. Ultimately, Apple decided against this, opting to maintain a minimum of 16GB of storage. However, this leak validates the accuracy of those earlier rumors.
