In 2012, DigiTimes reported that Apple planned to release an 8GB version of the iPad 2 as a means to offer a lower-priced entry point into its tablet range. Ultimately, Apple decided against this, opting to maintain a minimum of 16GB of storage. However, this leak validates the accuracy of those earlier rumors.
