ChatGPT lance Company knowledge : un moteur qui puise dans vos données internes pour répondre

With the introduction of the Company Knowledge feature, ChatGPT is now equipped to handle business-related queries by leveraging data exclusively from your business tools, such as Slack or Google Drive.

In a blog post released on Thursday, October 23, 2025, OpenAI unveiled a new capability called Company Knowledge, which enables ChatGPT to respond to inquiries by accessing only the internal data of your company. This feature connects directly to applications that are integral to daily operations, such as Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub, to ingest and analyze their content.

Company Knowledge: A Business-Oriented Conversational Search Engine

Available exclusively to Business, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers, Company Knowledge essentially serves as a conversational search engine tailored for professional use. Utilizing a specialized version of GPT-5, which is “trained to consult multiple sources to provide more comprehensive and accurate answers,” according to OpenAI, this feature can tackle questions by cross-referencing data scattered across Slack, your email, or files stored on Google Drive. This capability was made possible by establishing connectors to multiple services in June of the same year.

For instance, if you have a client call, ChatGPT can generate a briefing by compiling recent messages on Slack, key elements from the latest email exchanges, or notes from the last call in Google Docs.

Beyond purely operational queries, Company Knowledge also manages more “ambiguous” questions where there isn’t a clear answer, by conducting multiple searches simultaneously. “If you ask: ‘Where do we stand on next year’s goals?’, ChatGPT summarizes the exchanges and highlights the discrepancies,” illustrates OpenAI.

How Does Company Knowledge Work in ChatGPT?

Similar to the initial functionality of the Web Search, Company Knowledge must first be activated by clicking a button located below the input bar. Upon first use, users are prompted to connect the tools they use in their professional environment, like GitHub, Asana, or Microsoft Teams. “Then, each time you activate it, ChatGPT reviews all your apps to integrate relevant elements into its responses,” explains the California-based company.

When a search is initiated, the tool displays its progress in a side panel, indicating the sources consulted and “how the information is utilized,” notes OpenAI. At the end of the process, it summarizes the sources used in its response and displays “specific excerpts.” “You can click on a quotation to open the original source,” adds OpenAI. Additionally, the company indicates that the web search feature automatically deactivates when Company Knowledge is in use, ensuring that responses rely solely on internal company data.

Regarding security and confidentiality, OpenAI clarifies that administrators can manage access to the applications that feed Company Knowledge, create custom roles, and set specific permissions. The feature accesses only the information “that the user is already authorized to view,” adds OpenAI. Finally, the data is not used for training models.
