The be quiet! Light Mount gaming keyboard is a fairly standard model equipped with quiet switches. The brand takes it a step further by also applying a complete acoustic treatment to the keyboard chassis, aiming to make it extremely quiet.
Besides, it is a full-size keyboard that includes an extra row of keys on the left side and a volume control wheel. The keyboard features PBT plastic keys and seamlessly integrated RGB lighting.
This introductory to mid-range keyboard by be quiet! is offered at a recommended price of 170 euros. At first glance, the price seems somewhat steep, and the keyboard must justify this with top-notch performance.

A Gaming Keyboard with a be quiet! Touch
With the Light Mount, be quiet! has managed to incorporate its traditional design ethos into a keyboard. The brand, known for its love of brushed metal, has naturally outfitted its keyboard with a dark top plate that reflects the look of its cases and fans. This plate rests on a relatively light, all-plastic chassis. However, the entire unit is quite sturdy and does not deform under typing pressure.
The keyboard displays its unique character with a stylish RGB light strip perfectly integrated at the top end of the chassis. Additionally, there are two more discreet light zones on the lateral edges of the Light Mount. This generous lighting is, of course, complemented by that built into the switches.
The switches are complemented by PBT plastic keys. All characters, without exception, are cut out from the keys and thus benefit from the lighting integrated within the switches. This is a noteworthy feature, and some brands with more market experience could take a cue from be quiet!.
To further enhance functionality, the Light Mount also includes five additional keys positioned on the left of the keyboard. These are complemented by a clickable volume control wheel. While always appreciated, these extra keys are a bit too close to the main typing area and may require some getting used to in order not to confuse them with the rest of the keyboard.
In terms of ergonomics, be quiet! provides the Light Mount with a highly successful magnetic wrist rest. It is generously padded and covered with a soft, very comfortable material. The foldable legs, meanwhile, allow the chassis angle to be adjusted to three different levels, catering to individual preferences.
A Quietly Slow Typing Experience
Our test model features orange mechanical switches branded by be quiet!. The brand doesn’t provide much information about these switches, other than that they are quiet and linear. Indeed, they are designed such that the noise they produce at the end of a keystroke is minimized. With the added acoustic treatment of the chassis, the keyboard is indeed very quiet.
The switches are generally pleasant to use. They have a smooth travel, but their activation point is quite low, which, coupled with their relative softness, does not allow for a very reactive keyboard. Even though typing can be rapid, I definitely felt that the “slowness” of these switches slowed down my typing and the sequence of actions.
Overall, the Light Mount is a very pleasant keyboard due to its smoothness and quietness. However, it may not be suitable for players of fast-paced games or for writers, for example, who will feel significantly hindered by its average responsiveness.
A Sleek and Appealing Software
What a pleasant surprise! Brands new to the gaming peripherals market often struggle with software. Be quiet! defies expectations by providing IO Center, a simple, effective, and well-designed software. A real gem!
It includes all the relevant features for a keyboard, without any unnecessary frills. The RGB lighting can be adjusted with numerous effects and can also be finely customized. All keys can be reassigned using the multiple options available and even macros. The same applies to the second “layer” accessible via the “Fn” key.
The settings are saved in profiles, which are themselves associated with the games and applications of our choice. While the software is already particularly lightweight, be quiet! even offers a web version that doesn’t require installation and allows almost all keyboard settings to be modified. Impressive!
