Apple Music’s Ad-Free Radio Stations Now Available on TuneIn
Apple Music’s six commercial-free radio stations have expanded their reach and are now accessible through the TuneIn app, as well as on devices that support this service, including smart speakers and car entertainment systems. This marks the first instance where Apple’s radio offerings have been made available outside of its own Apple Music app. TuneIn, which boasts a user base of 75 million monthly users, serves as a new platform for Apple to promote its music streaming service.
The Strategic Partnership between Apple Music and TuneIn
Although Apple Music does not offer an advertising-supported tier and does not plan to introduce one, it does offer a free one-month trial. This collaboration with TuneIn is particularly strategic as it not only includes Apple’s radio stations but also features links that prompt users to activate this free trial of Apple’s music streaming service. Richard Stern, the CEO of TuneIn, noted that it was Apple that reached out late last year to propose this partnership.
