/dev/null — a developer-focused social network built in under 48 hours
On October 15, four engineers settled into JetBrains’ offices and streamed themselves working live with a single goal: create a social network for developers in 48 hours. They pulled it off — the site was launched the following day at midday — and attracted rapid attention. According to the project timeline posted on the site, /dev/null reached roughly 10,000 sign-ups within five days, helped along by buzz on X and discussions on Hacker News. Nuno Maduro, one of the builders, reflected that their choice to broadcast an unedited, unscripted 48-hour build helped generate interest — a format many marketing teams would shy away from — and that tools like Claude Code made implementation easier. At the time of writing, the project has received more than 490 upvotes on Product Hunt and ranks among October’s most popular launches.

/dev/null deliberately borrows language and metaphors from developer culture. Posts are called “commits,” the feed is the “log,” and likes are shown as stars. Functionally it resembles platforms like X or Bluesky: users publish text, images, or polls, reply in threads, quote posts, follow others, and create their own commits. One key requirement: participation requires a GitHub account.

Rill — a browser that sends your requests to Claude Code and Codex without leaving the page
“The web browser turns out to be the naturally best interface for agents,” say the creators of Rill, a macOS browser currently in beta that lets you hand tasks off to Claude Code or Codex from any website. The idea is straightforward: when inspiration hits while browsing, you no longer need to switch context to a coding agent and re-explain the situation. Hit ⌘E, type your request in the dialog, and Rill figures out which project is relevant and supplies the page you’re viewing as context.

The founder notes that many of his best work ideas come while browsing casually — following links, seeing solutions others have built — but he often didn’t bother stopping to re-create the context in his agents. Rill removes that friction. Beyond coding help, Claude Code and Codex in Rill can perform other tasks like finding flights, clustering tabs by topic, or comparing content across several open tabs. Although Rill was designed with AI workflows in mind, it also functions as a conventional web browser.

- Price: free; AI features require a Claude Code subscription

Spira Maxima — a video-generation model that claims to turn a script into a viral clip
Spira Maxima is a video-generation model from Spira AI, a service that offers AI-driven agents to manage social accounts. Launched on October 5, the model promises to produce, from a single prompt, a ready-to-post vertical video in a UGC-like style that’s optimized for virality, according to founder Long Ma. The output is meant to need no manual editing and to be immediately publishable to platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
To create a video you provide a script and optionally visual assets such as product photos. Users can also generate a personalized avatar by uploading a picture and a voice recording. The model then produces a vertical clip up to 90 seconds long, featuring a virtual presenter, illustrative footage, captions, and soundtrack. Spira AI says the model was trained on viral-format clips so its outputs better match platform conventions.
- Available on: web browser
- Price: $0.09 per second of video

ReSO — a tool that finds brands missing from ChatGPT and Perplexity responses
ReSO was born from a marketing insight. Swati Paliwal, cofounder and a marketer with over two decades’ experience across B2B and B2C brands, noticed a change in her own shopping behavior: important purchases increasingly began with queries to ChatGPT or Google’s AI. She observed that these generative systems typically surface only three to five brand names, leaving many established companies — even those that rank on page one in Google — absent from AI recommendations. Existing tools, she felt, mostly pointed out invisibility without explaining causes or offering concrete fixes.
ReSO, a browser-based tool, works in phases. First it identifies the kinds of questions consumers ask generative AIs throughout the purchase journey and groups them by theme. Those queries are then run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews to see whether and where a given brand appears compared with competitors. Next, ReSO audits the brand’s website to surface editorial, technical, or authority signal weaknesses. From this diagnosis it generates a prioritized weekly action plan that lists technical fixes, pages to update, and content to create. “Many AI visibility tools stop at monitoring. For us, measurement is only the first step,” Paliwal explains.
- Available on: web browser
- Price: free audit, then $599 per month

Talanoa — an email client that displays mail like a WhatsApp conversation
“What if your inbox looked more like an instant messenger?” That premise drove the creation of Talanoa, an email client that renders exchanges as chat-style conversations similar to WhatsApp or Slack. Its creator, who goes by @BetterCallJohn on Product Hunt, argues that a back-and-forth between two people is essentially a dialogue — yet traditional mail clients clutter threads with quotes, signatures, headers, and footers.
In Talanoa every message becomes a “bubble,” and distracting extras are hidden so the content is front and center. Conversations are organized by participant rather than by subject. The app supports Gmail, Outlook, and iCloud accounts and includes productivity features such as turning an email into a task with a due date and adding it to a Kanban board. It also has a clean, built-in calendar.
Talanoa includes an AI assistant (beta) that can search your inbox, summarize messages, or draft replies that mimic your writing style. Messages are stored locally on the device only — no cloud syncing or tracking — and the app supports offline use.
- Available on: macOS, Windows, Linux
- Price: free (limited plan) or $10 per month
