Apple augmente les tarifs de l'iPhone au Japon
Apple has recently increased the prices of Apple Music, and along with that, the company has also revised the pricing for iCloud+ in various countries including Nigeria, Turkey, Vietnam, Japan, Egypt, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Additionally, there has been a significant price increase for iPhones in Japan.

Price Adjustments in Japan

The cost of the iPhone 16 has gone up from 114,800 yen to 124,800 yen, marking an 8.7% increase. The iPhone 17e has seen its price rise from 99,800 yen to 107,800 yen, which is an 8% hike. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17’s price has escalated from 129,800 yen to 142,800 yen, a 10% increase. The iPhone Air has experienced an 11.3% price jump from 159,800 yen to 177,800 yen. The iPhone 17 Pro now costs 194,800 yen, up from 179,800 yen, an 8.3% increase, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max has seen a 10.3% rise, with its new price at 214,800 yen from the previous 194,800 yen.

Possible Reasons for the Price Hike

This surge in prices may be connected to the recent depreciation of the Japanese yen, which has lost about 8% of its value against the dollar over the past year. The fact that this increase is confined to Japan suggests that it is not a response to the rising costs of memory. Apple had already raised the prices for Macs and iPads at the end of June and has indicated that further increases are to be expected. Likely, the iPhone will see similar hikes during the upcoming launches of the iPhone 18 Pro and a new foldable iPhone this September.
