Looking for a versatile electric bike that can handle both city commutes and outdoor adventures without buying two separate models? Look no further. Moustache has introduced an alternative in its Dimanche 29 series designed for both urban commuting and sporty riding. By equipping it with a straight handlebar, they have significantly transformed their Gravel 2 Flat Bar in an attempt to bridge the gap between urban and trail riding.
This model functions as an urban e-bike while aiming to keep the weight low to maintain agility with its Bosch SX motor. Priced at €3,699, does this combination succeed without major compromises? We spent a week testing it across various terrains to find out. Here’s our review.

A Stylish Urban Gravel Bike
Available only with a closed frame, the Moustache Dimanche Gravel 2 Flat Bar maintains the base design of the model equipped with the “Gravel 2” racing handlebar. It features a seamless, two-tone (light blue, black at the bottom frame) design that looks impressive.
Equipped to handle all weather conditions, this e-bike comes with metal fenders that are wide and long, with a front flap. For daily use, it doesn’t have a traditional rack but a light pannier holder compatible with the QL3 attachment system. This is great if you buy the matching luggage, but our current standard panniers could not be attached.
Just Under 20 kg Fully Equipped
The bike includes battery-powered lights with a powerful and wide (2 meters) front beam for clear visibility outside urban areas, while the more standard rear light is adequate for visibility but somewhat mismatched with the bike’s overall design.
A kickstand is included, along with four mounting points for accessories or panniers: two on the frame and two on the fork, allowing for well-equipped journeys. Weighing in at 19.9 kg, the Gravel 2 Flat Bar is slightly heavier than its non-urban counterpart by about 400 grams.
Integrated Bosch System
Like other models with Bosch assistance, Moustache employs German engineering for the electronics. On this Dimanche 29, the Purion 200 display replaces the Mini Remote on the upper tube of the racing handlebar models. Despite its small size, the display offers clear information in all conditions due to its good resolution and strong backlight.
For enhanced visibility, the eBike Flow app can be used with a standard smartphone holder, or the official Bosch Smartphone Grip, which is expensive but includes induction charging and is integrated with the handlebar controls. These controls are ergonomic and large enough to be used with gloves.
The app allows users to customize the assist modes (choosing 4 out of several options based on personal preference). Cyclists can also track their rides, lock the assistance, and subscribe to premium services (€40/year for advanced alarms, precise navigation, and more detailed ride statistics).
Riding Experience: A Fine Balance Between Sport and Comfort
So, how does it perform on the road? The Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 Flat Bar offers an active, sport-oriented riding position. The closed frame makes mounting a bit cumbersome, but the telescopic saddle helps in getting comfortably seated, and a semi-open frame option is available for easier daily use.
With its large 29-inch wheels, the e-bike remains stable yet responsive on rough terrains, despite its thick tires. These Maxxis Scrambler tires limit tight cornering but ensure excellent grip even on gravel.
The tires also allow for very short braking distances in combination with the Shimano MT200 brakes, which are adequate for moderate and versatile use (with flat mount calipers on this model).
The tires provide good grip, and their generous sidewalls somewhat compensate for the lack of suspension. Despite the fixed aluminum fork (carbon would have offered more flexibility), the ride isn’t uncomfortable, thanks to the slightly flexible “antishock” stem and the suspended seat post, making it as enjoyable off-road as it is on urban cobblestones.
An E-Bike That Prefers the City
When pedaling, the Bosch Performance Line SX assistance is perfectly suited to the e-bike’s temperament. Very responsive and operating at a high cadence, the central motor kicks in as soon as you press the pedal, quickly reaching 25 km/h with the Turbo mode, and provides dynamic acceleration for climbs. The default 55 Nm torque, adjustable to 60 Nm via the app, is sufficient for uphill starts, except at low cadence if you forget to shift down.
The Shimano Cues 10-speed derailleur offers versatility and reliability with the Shadow function (which locks the chain in rough terrain to prevent skipping). However, gear shifting is a bit sluggish compared to the more race-oriented Deore transmission, with occasional misses.
Large Battery for Over 80 km Range in Max Mode
Built on a gravel e-bike platform, this “civilized” Moustache Dimanche 29 incorporates a fixed battery within the frame. Unfortunately, the battery is not removable, which is a downside for those without easy access to a power outlet, but the bike’s sub-20 kg weight makes it feasible to carry up a few flights of stairs.
It comes with a 2A charger and must be recharged via the plug at the bottom of the frame. However, we also had the optional 4A fast charger, which cuts the waiting time for a full charge in half. We observed the same charging behavior as other Bosch-assisted e-bikes: the first 25% charges very quickly, then charging proceeds more linearly. Half the battery charges in 1 hour, and a full charge takes 2h15 (or 2 hours and 4h30 with the standard charger).
To monitor progress, the display remains on continuously, while the battery percentage can be checked via the app if the bike is connected via Bluetooth. Only the premium Flow+ version allows you to check the charge regardless of your distance from the e-bike.
What About the Battery Life?
The only available battery has a capacity of 400 Wh (11.1 Ah). According to Moustache, the maximum range in eco mode is 90 kilometers. In our tests, we first tried the default maximum mode, Sprint, which offers the most performance (600 W and 60 Nm).
Depending on the variable temperatures during our tests (15 to 20°C), we measured a range of 55 to 63 km. The intermediate Tour+ mode provided 80 kilometers of range in summer temperatures with a significant portion on trails, while the Auto mode averaged about 70 km. We noticed a slight drop in performance below 10% and more so below 5%, before switching to reserve mode (no assistance) at 0% to cover the last few hundred meters.
When pedaling with the assistance off, it is possible to ride at 20 km/h without much effort, thanks to the low motor resistance and the bike’s manageable weight.
Price and Availability
The Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 Flat Bar has been available since late 2025 and is currently priced at €3,699. It is the most accessible model in the range, below the more sport-oriented gravel models with racing handlebars, sportier brakes, and a carbon fork (Gravel 4 and 6).
It is part of the comprehensive Dimanche 29 series, which is the sibling of the Dimanche 28 Road e-bike. The latter differs with its Hutchinson road tires, fixed seat tube, and lack of equipment (pannier holder, fenders, and lighting), but is lighter by 500 grams.
Available in two frame designs, Open (semi-open) or Standard (closed), in respectively 3 sizes (XS to M) and 4 sizes (S to XL), it is however offered in only one color. The official website provides availability for trial at dealers, who are responsible for validating the order and receiving the delivery.
The Vosges-based brand assembles this model like all others in its factory in Thaon-les-Vosges, and includes a 5-year warranty for the frame and a 2-year warranty for other components (excluding wear items), with Bosch assistance. Additionally, a “Crash Replacement” service is available in case of an accident or fall, offering a 4% discount on essential components 5 years after purchase (frame, fork, handlebars, wheels, pannier holder, and fenders).
