The ad begins with showing a classroom with “Make a film with iPad” written on a blackboard and then goes on to show students preparing and shooting their video projects. Apple’s latest ad features voiceover by Martin Scorsese. Mr. Scorsese is regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinema history.
“Make a film with iPad” features excerpts from Martin Scorsese’s commencement speech to the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Class of 2014.
In addition to posting the new tv ad Apple has also posted videos of students of Los Angeles County High School, featured in the ad, sharing their inspiration and concept behind their video project.
As a disclosure Apple shared that the company provided iPads to the students for the purpose of creating their movies. The students used the iPad to write, produce, shoot, score, and edit their films.
The ad also highlights the apps and accessories the students used during the making of the video. The apps shown in the video include: Final Draft Writer, FiLMiC Pro, GarageBand, and VideoGrade. The students also used the Apogee MiC (available from Apple’s online store) to record high-fidelity dialogues.
Apple’s iOS tv ads have almost always focused on what you can accomplish with the devices rather than talking about the hardware specifications. This contrasts with its competitors ad campaigns that boast about camera megapixels, RAM and processors.

During the Academy Awards on Sunday night, Apple aired a new iPad TV ad called, ‘Hollywood’. The new ad focuses entirely on movies, movie production, and also shows clips from popular American movies such as Back to the Future, Apollo 13, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
‘Hollywood’ is structured the same way as the last set of ads that were released for the iPad, called ‘Alive’ and ‘Together’. The new ad scheme showcases some of the over 300,000 apps available for the iPad, with ‘Hollywood’ using the words ‘Lights’, ‘Camera’, and ‘Action’ to describe the apps.
Some apps shown in the ad include, Apple’s iMovie for iOS, the iTunes Store, Polaroid, Apple Maps, and Bad Robot Production’s Action Movie FX. Interestingly, Bad Robot Productions is a film and television production company owned by American producer and director, J. J. Abrams.

The advertisement shows an iPad in use against a pure white background, as in all Apple ads. As the user runs through different features such as Twitter, iBooks, and AirPlay, each feature is narrated.
Read it. Tweet it.
Be surprised. Be productive.
Make a sale. Make some lunch.
Make it movie night.
Play a game. Or an old favorite
Do it all more beautifully, with the Retina display, on iPad.
This latest ad continues to show users all of the everyday features that the iPad is capable of and how exactly it would fit into someone’s lifestyle. This is the third ad released for Apple’s new iPad with Retina Display. Ads for the iPad now join the Cupertino company’s popular Siri ads as well as a recent string of ads dedicated to the Genius Bar and Apple’s services.

The latest incarnation showcases the official TED app, AiPrinting (is that a word?) a PDF and there’s even a little bit of multitasking thrown in for good measure.
The ad closes with Pixar’s Toy Story 3 being played, via the new AirPlay feature. The word that follows it? Amazing!
Yes, yes it is!
