Test du Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro : la vision est accomplie
In 2026, Samsung introduces its latest innovation: the Galaxy Book 6 Pro. With the inclusion of Panther Lake technology, does it fulfill the manufacturer’s vision? Find out in our detailed review.

At Frandroid, we generally have high regard for Samsung’s Galaxy Book PCs: they are well-built, high-performing, and particularly durable, making them almost always a reliable choice.

This year, the Korean manufacturer has returned with a slightly enhanced chassis, impressive battery life (at least on paper), and notably, the incorporation of the latest Intel Panther Lake processors.

Design

Unlike manufacturers who frequently overhaul their designs every few years, Samsung, much like Apple, has long settled on a design formula that it prefers, making only minor incremental changes annually.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro features a familiar fully metal chassis, combining sharp edges with rounded corners, a signature style of the brand. Here, we see a 16-inch model that maintains an ultrabook profile at just 1.19 centimeters thick and weighing 1.56 kilograms, despite its advanced capabilities. The 14-inch version weighs slightly more at 1.24 kilograms.

Honestly, the Galaxy Book 6 Pro doesn’t flaunt the typical ultrabook profile aimed at high performance, which would usually be thicker or heavier. It simply embodies a high-end ultrabook, utilizing premium materials that give it a reassuring weight without being excessive. Samsung is known for its quality, and the Galaxy Book 6 Pro is yet another testament to this.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard setup on the Galaxy Book 6 Pro is clearly optimized for quietness above all. The activation distance is finely balanced between being just enough and slightly insufficient. The switches are tuned with a noticeable cushioning that makes typing soft. Furthermore, the key balance is finely adjusted, offering a very pleasant typing experience that stands out, though it may require some adjustment for those used to more forceful typing.

The touchpad is exceptionally wide, almost to the point of being excessive, yet it’s perfect for truly making the most of its haptic feedback. The glide is flawless, and the functionality is just as smooth.

Connectivity

On the left side, there’s a full HDMI 2.1 port along with two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. On the right, there’s a USB A port and a combo jack.

The connectivity options are somewhat limited, which is justified by the device’s broader consumer focus. For more USB ports and the addition of a micro SD card reader, one would need to look towards the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra.

Webcam and Audio

The Galaxy Book 6 Pro features a 2-megapixel Full HD webcam. The output is overly smoothed, likely due to aggressive software retouching, yet it remains acceptable.

The laptop also includes four speakers, with some positioned on either side of the keyboard and others at the bottom of the chassis. Although the setup supports Dolby Atmos, the output is not particularly striking. The sound is loud with a decent overall presence, but it’s notably confined and focuses primarily on highs and vocals. While it’s common for such setups to lack bass, here, the mid-tones could definitely use more attention.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro boasts a 16-inch touch-responsive AMOLED screen with a 2880 x 1800 resolution, at a 16:10 aspect ratio, and it also supports a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Our tests using the CalMAN software by Portrait Displays revealed a color coverage of 170% for the sRGB space and 114% for the DCI-P3 space. In SDR, the peak brightness was measured at a very good 496 cd/m², with a nearly perfect average color temperature of 6693K and a Delta E00 average of 2.16, with a maximum deviation of 4.94, which is also close to perfect.

As expected, HDR performance is the only minor setback, a common issue across all laptops in this market. A peak brightness of 1129 cd/m² is impressive but does not compensate for the lack of calibration in relation to luminance, which is crucial for maintaining true colors.

Nevertheless, the display quality is excellent, leaving nothing to be desired.

Software

Samsung offers a comprehensive software experience, similar to that of its smartphones and tablets. Everything is largely centered around the interconnectivity between its various devices, though it shares the same weaknesses seen on smartphones: many of these services are redundant, duplicating those natively available on the operating system.

And as expected on a laptop, one cannot avoid the pre-installed McAfee software, which should be uninstalled promptly.

Performance

In our test configuration, the Galaxy Book 6 Pro features an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H SoC with 16 cores—4 high-performance, 8 efficient, and 4 ultra-efficient—and 16 threads capable of turbo boosting up to 4.8 GHz. It’s paired with 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 9600 MT/s, 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, and includes an Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics processor.

Depending on the model, you can choose either a true Arc iGPU or just an integrated Intel graphics chip. The device can be configured with either 16 or 32 GB of RAM.

Benchmarks

Having previously tested the MSI Prestige 14 which features the same SoC, we mainly checked if the Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro could reach similar or better performance levels. Indeed, it does, and even more so: scoring 4207 points in multi-core and 506 points in single-core on Cinebench 2026, the CPU part of the Core Pro X7 358H is very comfortable in this chassis. And, importantly, it maintains these performance levels even when unplugged.

The graphics part is equally impressive. In the Steel Nomad Light benchmark, we noted a score of 6365 points, which is remarkable for an integrated graphics chip in an ultrabook SoC. Thus, creative performance follows the new standard set by Intel for the 2026 generation, which was much needed for this Pro configuration.

The storage performance is also perfect for PCIe Gen 4, seemingly effortless for Samsung to source excellent memory components from… well, Samsung. Surprising, isn’t it?

Cooling and Noise

However, the Galaxy Book 6 Pro shares the same heat management issue observed in the MSI Prestige 14 from 2026.

The stability isn’t quite there, and performance drops by 10% quickly. While we remain above the competition in general use, and this difference isn’t significant enough to be a major concern, it does raise some flags for the rest of the Galaxy Book 6 series.

External temperatures are excellent, though. Peaking at 47°C, it’s comfortable for lap use. The heat on the keyboard is spread a bit too much across the surface, but it’s not overly bothersome.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro is equipped with a 78.07 Wh battery, which is quite large for this 16-inch format. It charges via a 65-watt USB-C power adapter.

In typical office use with the brightness set to 50%, the battery lasts between 19 and 20 hours. This performance is simply outstanding, especially considering the bright OLED display.

This is yet another confirmation of the endurance capabilities of the Intel Core Ultra 300 series when it comes to x86 architecture.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro (16 inches) is available in France starting at 1899 euros for the Core Ultra 5 version, 2299 euros for the Core Ultra 7 version, and 2399 euros for the Core Ultra X7 version (which we are reviewing).
