The annual Amazon Prime Day is an excellent opportunity to purchase one of the tech giant’s sought-after Kindle devices, and this sales event is no exception. While every Kindle model is a good choice, one in particular stands out this year.
Currently, the Kindle Colorsoft is available for $159 on Amazon, matching the regular price of the Kindle Paperwhite and costing only $35 more than the discounted price of that model. Although the Paperwhite offers sharper black-and-white visuals, the Colorsoft stands out with its vibrant color display, as suggested by its name.
In my review of the Kindle Colorsoft, I described Amazon’s first color Kindle as a triumph and the Kindle I’ve always wanted. The great thing is that you don’t need to be reading materials with lots of colors, like comic books, to benefit from the Colorsoft’s display capabilities. While the Paperwhite provides superior contrast for black-and-white text, the Colorsoft also performs well with monochrome content.
Additional features include an eight-week battery life, resistance to water (IPX8 rating), 16GB of storage, and a display that mimics the feel of real paper, which provides a more authentic reading experience than the glossy screens on tablets and smartphones.
Being an Amazon product, it grants immediate access to the full Kindle library, which includes any digital books you’ve purchased from the Kindle Store or through the Kindle Unlimited subscription, which costs $12 per month. If you’re an avid reader consuming several books per month, Kindle Unlimited can quickly become cost-effective.
I’ve enjoyed using various Kindle models, but the Kindle Colorsoft is the most comfortable for regular reading. If you’re considering upgrading from a non-color Kindle, this is a great opportunity to do so!
