iPad A16 $199 at T-Mobile: How to grab this limited-time deal

Don’t pay the new inflated iPad price

Apple raised iPad prices this summer, but one carrier is offering a significant discount on the Cellular version of the entry-level model. T-Mobile is currently knocking as much as $400 off the base 11-inch iPad with Cellular under a limited-time promotion.

Right now you can pick up the 11-inch iPad (A16/Cellular) for just $199 from T-Mobile if you sign up for a new Tablet Unlimited Plus 2.0 plan. The reduction comes as $400.99 in monthly bill credits applied over 36 months, so the lower price requires that ongoing plan activation. Yes, you do need to subscribe to a data plan for the tablet to get this price, but it’s the lowest out-of-pocket cost we’ve seen for this model so far.

The latest 11-inch iPad offers a larger 11-inch display at 2360 x 1640 resolution and runs on the A16 chip. It includes 12MP cameras front and back, USB-C for charging and accessories, and compatibility with Apple’s Magic Keyboard Folio (sold separately for $249). The base configuration now ships with 128GB of storage—double what the previous base model included—and higher-capacity options of 256GB and 512GB are available if you need more space.

For most people, the standard iPad is the best all-around recommendation. While its A16 Bionic processor doesn’t match the more powerful A20 Pro found in higher-tier models, the 11-inch A16 iPad still delivers a capable experience. The screen is a great size for the typical tablet tasks—reading, watching shows, sketching, or typing. If you want to draw or take handwritten notes, you’ll need an Apple Pencil with USB-C, which adds to the total cost but is a handy accessory for creative and productivity uses.

Battery performance is solid for an entry-level tablet: in our review of the 11-inch iPad A16, it ran for 11 hours and 25 minutes on a single charge, which is a respectable figure for everyday use. If you’re aiming for a straightforward iPad experience without paying the premium of Apple’s higher-end tablets (or buying into the iPhone Duo ecosystem), this T-Mobile deal makes the basic iPad an attractive and affordable choice.
