Rising Popularity of Apple TV in France Due to Hit Shows
Popular series such as Severance and Pluribus have significantly boosted Apple TV’s market share in France throughout 2025. According to data from JustWatch, Apple’s streaming service has seen its market share in France jump from 5% to 11%, securing the fourth position in the market rankings. This places it ahead of HBO Max, which has increased from 5% to 8%, and Canal+, which has decreased from 12% to 7%. Despite changes in the rankings, the top three positions remain unchanged, although the gap is narrowing, with Netflix dropping from 28% to 24%, Prime Video from 25% to 22%, and Disney+ rising slightly from 18% to 19%.
Performance in the US Market
Despite its success in France, Apple TV ranks sixth in its home market, the United States, as also reported by JustWatch. Here, it has managed to increase its market share by two points, reaching 9%. The leading platforms in the U.S. are the same as in France, followed by HBO Max and Hulu.
About JustWatch’s Data and Apple’s Market Position
JustWatch’s rankings are derived from the analysis of its 40 million users. It’s important to note that these figures are estimates and carry a margin of error concerning the total customer base of the respective services, with a potential bias of underestimating inactive subscribers. Nevertheless, these estimates provide a glimpse into Apple TV’s position in the streaming market. Apple has consistently refrained from releasing specific audience statistics. In October, Apple’s services chief Eddy Cue was questioned about rumors claiming the service had 45 million subscribers; he merely stated that the actual figure was “significantly higher than that.”
