The Unavailability of iPhone Mirroring in the EU Continues
Introduced last year with iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, the iPhone Mirroring feature remains unavailable within the European Union and it seems that this situation is unlikely to change soon. Initially, Apple restricted this feature due to regulatory concerns about the European DMA’s interoperability requirements, and these concerns still persist. Following the rollout of iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, Apple communicated to Numerama that they have yet to find a resolution.
Lack of Progress with New Operating Systems
Some might have hoped that with the release of the new operating systems, Apple would adjust the functionality of iPhone Mirroring, which allows users to access iPhone apps and documents directly on a Mac screen while also displaying its notifications. However, this has not been the case for iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe. Apple’s explanations remain somewhat vague, but it appears they fear that European law might force them to support competing systems: “Mandatory iPhone Mirroring on Windows or Android Mirroring on Mac might not align with their plans,” indeed.
