The next gen iPhone will be called the “iPhone 4S”, says Jefferies analyst, Peter Misek. This bold claim comes after months of speculation that the next iPhone would be called the iPhone 5. Misek also claims that the iPhone 4S will, “include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support.”

Misek’s assertion about the iPhone may just be on point. After the release of the iPhone 3G, Apple (AAPL) simply added an “S” to the end of the name, calling it the iPhone 3GS. This exact name game is bound to repeat again with the iPhone 4, simply because the iPhone 4 won’t be as advanced as something you can claim to be an iPhone 5, it’ll be a minor upgrade.

Apple was looking to add high speed wireless 4G networks to the iPhone but scrapped the plans due to prep time for the chip sets as well as high customer demand for an iPhone on Verizon Wireless. Misek also revealed that the iPhone 4S will work with Sprint, T-Mobile and China Mobile.

This was also expected after a dissection of the iPhone 4 revealed that it does have enough capacity to handle dual networks on one iPhone. This is likely to be the next big move for Apple in order to keep it’s production, stocks, and sales up.
