Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro Review: Sports Precision Without the Weight or Cost!

May 30, 2026

J’ai testé la Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, aussi précise qu’une montre de sport, le poids et le prix en moins
With the Watch Fit 5 Pro, Huawei offers a lightweight and relatively affordable watch, but with particularly efficient tracking. Here is the complete test.

For the past few years, Huawei has included numerous models in its smartwatch catalog. While the Watch GT models and the basic Watch series feature a design reminiscent of traditional and elegant watches, the Huawei Watch Fit models embrace a smartwatch design, largely inspired by the Apple Watch.

Following the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, which bore a strong resemblance to the Apple Watch Ultra, the Chinese manufacturer is back this year with the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro that follows similar design cues but with several notable differences. Here is the full review.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 ProA Watch with an “Ultra” Look that Highlights the Display

In its new Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, the Chinese manufacturer doesn’t reinvent the wheel and largely relies on the design of its last smartwatch from the series, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro. As expected, it features a design heavily inspired by Apple’s high-end watches, like the Apple Watch Ultra 3, with a square shape, a crown, and an oblong button on the right, and a slight protrusion of the casing separating these two controls.

However, for its new smartwatch, Huawei has slightly revised its design, particularly in terms of the screen. Unlike the last generation, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro doesn’t feature a flat glass topped with slightly higher edges, but includes a slightly curved 2.5D glass.

This design choice is justified from an aesthetic perspective, as the screen appears to take up more space on the watch’s surface. And it’s a nice improvement in this regard, as the screen, which only occupied 61% of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro’s surface, now occupies 83% of that of the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro.

However, this design choice naturally raises concerns about the risk of scratches in case of a fall. To compensate, fortunately, there is sapphire glass to protect the panel from scratches. A good point.

Regarding the casing itself, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is designed with an aluminum case (for the black and orange versions) or with micro-arc oxidation (for the white version). There are also titanium edges around the screen to protect the watch as much as possible from impacts and scratches.

As for the watch’s format itself, it features a casing of 44.5 x 40.8 x 9.5 mm and a weight, without the strap, of 30.4 g. Practically, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is very easy to forget on the wrist and will suit both people with small or large wrists. It’s a very good compromise.

The watch is also certified 5 ATM, IP69, and suitable for underwater diving up to a maximum depth of 40 meters.

Finally, in terms of straps, the Watch Fit 5 Pro comes with a fabric strap for the orange model and fluoroelastomer for the black or white model. It should be noted, however, that it is possible to easily change the strap by pressing the dedicated buttons on the back of the wrist. However, in the absence of a standard lug system, you will necessarily have to opt for straps designed for Huawei watches.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 ProA Bright and Detailed Screen

For the display of its watch, Huawei has opted for a 1.92-inch Amoled display with a resolution of 480 x 408 pixels. For comparison, for a case of identical size, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro therefore benefits from a larger screen than that of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro with its 1.82-inch diagonal. It also features a pixel density of 328 pixels per inch, very close to the Apple Watch’s “Retina” standard of 326 pixels per inch.

Concretely, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro thus has a display defined enough that you cannot distinguish each individual pixel with the naked eye and enjoy a display that is fine and clear.

Additionally, the watch is equipped with a peak brightness that can reach 3000 cd/m², similar to most high-end watches on the market. A value that was already found on the previous model, but also on the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, or the Google Pixel Watch 4. In other words, the watch’s screen will be bright enough to be comfortably viewed regardless of lighting conditions, whether indoors in the evening or during a summer afternoon workout.

Of course, the screen brightness can also automatically adjust according to your environment thanks to the built-in ambient light sensor.

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro also features an always-on display mode. Relatively battery-efficient, it will take advantage of the LTPO display to switch the display to 1 Hz to keep certain data on the screen. This allows you to check the time, battery, or heart rate at any moment without having to raise your wrist to wake the display.

This always-on display can also be configured to activate only during certain time slots. Thus, when you switch to “sleep” mode (programmable), the screen will turn off completely, as will the function that activates the screen by raising the wrist. A good point not to be awakened in the middle of the night due to a wrist movement.

As for the watch faces, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is natively equipped with 14 different and customizable models. You can thus modify both the colors and the complications on many of them. Additionally, the Huawei Health app will allow you to download many more, offered either for free or for a few euros. There is also an original watch face, “cute animals,” with an animated panda that will encourage you to do mini-exercises throughout the day.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 ProA Classic Interface for a Huawei Watch

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is compatible not only with Android smartphones but also with iPhones. To pair it with your phone, you will need to install the Huawei Health app.

As for the navigation interface, we find here only very classic elements with a touch screen, a rotating crown acting as a button, and an oblong button positioned below.

Concretely, here are the interactions offered:

  • swipe up: access to notifications
  • swipe down: quick settings
  • swipe right: widget timeline (weather, calendar, music player)
  • swipe left: access to app cards
  • single press on the crown: access to the list of apps / return to the watch face
  • double press on the crown: multitasking management
  • long press on the crown: power off menu
  • short press on the oblong button: customizable shortcut (default: workout app)
  • double press on the oblong button: customizable shortcut (default: Huawei Wallet)
  • long press on the oblong button: access to the voice assistant

Although the Huawei watch offers a voice assistant, it is a classic model, similar to Google Assistant or Siri and not Gemini. It will essentially perform certain pre-programmed tasks, such as turning on the flashlight, giving the weather, or starting an exercise, but will not be able to answer more complex questions.

We are dealing here with a very classic interface, similar to those usually offered on Huawei watches.

Among the peculiarities, we should note the “cute animals” watch face. This features a panda that, throughout the day, will evaluate in its poses or animations to encourage you to do small exercises. Thirty of them are offered natively, targeting 11 muscle groups. We are clearly far from what regular athletes might expect, but it’s a good way to stay motivated to stay in shape.

In addition, the watch will also allow you to make phone calls via Bluetooth using the built-in microphone and speaker. Equipped with an NFC chip, it will also allow contactless payments through the Curve payment service, regardless of your bank.

As a Huawei watch, if third-party apps exist, they are not abundant. Do not expect to download applications as relevant as what you would have access to on Wear OS or watchOS; here, you will essentially have to make do with the pre-installed apps, focused on health and activity tracking.

You can still use the watch to receive notifications and, from an Android smartphone, reply to messages received by SMS or on WhatsApp.

Finally, as is often the case with Huawei watches, one cannot help but regret the lag that seems to be taken by the Huawei Health app on smartphones. With its cluttered menus, numerous subscription prompts, and overly busy interface, it would deserve a real overhaul to align with Google Health or Apple Health.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 ProHighly Effective Sports Tracking

For health or physical activity tracking, the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is equipped with numerous sensors.

It features an optical heart rate sensor, a pulse oximeter, an accelerometer, a compass, a barometric altimeter, a temperature sensor, a depth gauge, and even an electrocardiogram.

The GPS Accuracy of the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro

For GPS tracking of its watch, Huawei offers multi-GNSS compatibility (GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, Navic, and Beidou) and compatibility with dual-frequency positioning.

This should ensure, in theory, optimal tracking regardless of conditions, whether in the mountains, in open areas, or in the city.

To assess the GPS accuracy of the Watch Fit 5 Pro, I ran several times with the watch on my left wrist in various environments. I then compared the distances and traces with those of a high-end Garmin watch, the Garmin Fenix 8.

Runs Garmin Fenix 8 Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro Difference
Run 1 (track) 11.697 km 11.630 km -0.57 %
Run 2 (park) 12.303 km 12.260 km -0.35 %
Run 3 (city) 12.640 km 12.340 km -2.37 %
Run 4 (city) 3.807 km 3.610 km -5.17 %
Run 5 (park) 3.808 km 3.670 km -3.62 %
Run 6 (city) 9.395 km 9.350 km -0.48 %
Total 53.650 km 52.860 km -1.47 %

Overall, both watches achieve very close distance measurements, although we notice some more marked differences in the city.
