Overview of the Range
In mid-October, Apple reduced the prices of its tablets. The entry-level iPad A16 starts at €389 on the Apple Store. The better equipped and more powerful iPad Air M3, available in 11 or 13 inches, starts at €669. At the high end, the iPad Pro M5 features even higher quality components, including OLED screens, with prices starting at €1,119. The iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip, targeting those who prefer a smaller screen size at just 8.3 inches, starts at €559. All these models are available at discounted rates from various retailers.
The iPad A16
The iPad A16 has been available since March 4, 2025. This entry-level model maintains the same design as its predecessor, featuring an 11-inch screen (actually 10.9″) with rounded edges and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor located on the top button of the tablet.
The iPad A16 features a screen size identical to the 11-inch iPad Air M3, but it is not laminated (resulting in a thicker screen with pixels further from the touch surface), lacks anti-reflective coating, and has less rich color reproduction, supporting only sRGB instead of P3 like the iPad Air. It still boasts an LED panel with a Retina resolution of 2,360 x 1,640 pixels at 264 ppi and the same maximum brightness of 500 nits. While it doesn’t match the comfort level of the iPad Air or Pro, it is perfectly adequate for everyday use.
As the name suggests, the iPad A16 is equipped with the A16 Bionic chip—similar to the iPhone 15. It’s not as powerful as the iPad Air and Pro chips, but it’s sufficient for its intended uses such as office work, multimedia, web browsing, and light gaming. If you plan to undertake heavy video editing projects, 3D modeling, or demanding video games, the iPad Air would be more suitable. Note that the A16 chip does not support Apple Intelligence, so this model lacks Apple’s AI features.
The iPad A16 also includes a USB-C connector for charging and connecting peripherals like external drives or cameras. It supports Wi-Fi 6, with Wi-Fi 6E remaining exclusive to the iPad Air and Pro models. In terms of cameras, the iPad A16 features a 12-megapixel main sensor capable of recording 4K video, and a front-facing webcam positioned on the horizontal edge for better results in landscape mode. The tablet has stereo speakers when used in landscape mode.
The iPad A16 supports the first-generation Apple Pencil at €119 with an adapter (included with the stylus). The tablet is also compatible with the Apple Pencil USB-C priced at €89. You can find the differences between these two models in this article, and promotions from retailers in our price comparator. For note-taking, Apple also offers its Magic Keyboard Folio, which protects the iPad while providing a physical keyboard and a stand, although it is priced steeply at €299 (see promotions).
The iPad A16 is available in three storage capacities, with the Wi-Fi version priced at €389 for 128 GB, €519 for 256 GB, and €769 for 512 GB, or a cellular version for an additional €170 at equal capacity. These are the prices from the Apple Store, which never offers discounts (except for students or teachers with prices starting at €359 on the Apple Store education), but discounts are indeed available from retailers. You can find all the models in real-time on our price comparator, and we relay the best deals (coupons, cashbacks, foreign sellers, etc.) daily in our deals section.

The iPad Air M3
Launched on March 4, 2025, the iPad Air with the M3 chip offers a higher level of equipment than the iPad A16 while maintaining a more reasonable price than the iPad Pro. The design of the iPad Air is almost identical to that of the entry-level iPad, but it features more high-end technical specifications and a second screen size of 13 inches for users who find the standard 11-inch models too restrictive. It also includes a USB-C connector, Touch ID on the top button of the tablet, and a similar camera.
The iPad Air’s screen is superior to that of the iPad A16: it is laminated (bringing the pixels closer to the glass), features an anti-reflective treatment, and supports the P3 color range instead of sRGB, resulting in more accurate color rendering. The screen brightness remains at 500 nits on the 11-inch model, but increases to 600 nits on the 13-inch model. While it doesn’t reach the OLED panels of the iPad Pro with their “true blacks”, their brightness of 1,000 nits, and ProMotion technology enabling a refresh rate of 120 Hz (compared to 60 Hz for the iPad A16 and iPad Air M3), it is still high-quality and fully sufficient for professional use.
The iPad Air M3 also stands out from the iPad A16 in terms of performance: it includes the same M3 chip that has already been used in some Macs, and it is significantly more powerful than the A16 chip from the iPhone. This allows for quick processing of heavy computations of all kinds, from 3D modeling to intensive games and video editing. The iPad Air M3 also has the advantage of featuring 8 GB of RAM, enabling support for Apple Intelligence features which the iPad A16 lacks. The tablet is also compatible with the more advanced Wi-Fi 6E, unlike the Wi-Fi 6 supported by the iPad A16.
This model offers another advantage for stylus drawing: the Apple Pencil USB-C priced at €89 is supported just like on the iPad A16, but the iPad Air also supports the Apple Pencil Pro priced at €149 (read our guide on Apple’s styluses). Apple also offers its Magic Keyboard which serves as an external keyboard, stand, and protective case for the iPad Air: it is quite expensive, costing €329 for the 11-inch model and €349 for the 13-inch model.
The iPad Air M3 is available in four storage capacities for each of its screen sizes. With an 11-inch screen, the official prices at the Apple Store are €669 for 128 GB, €799 for 256 GB, €1,049 for 512 GB, and €1,299 for 1 TB, with an additional €170 required to upgrade to the cellular version. For the 13-inch model, the prices are €869 for 128 GB, €999 for 256 GB, €1,249 for 512 GB, and €1,499 for 1 TB, also with an additional €170 for 5G compatibility.
Apple never offers discounts on the Apple Store but relies on official retailers to launch promotional offers. You can track the price changes of the different models on our price comparator, and we relay the best deals daily in our deals section.
